Wonderful guest house , really Excellent stay , Can’t say more ,  fantastic location , clean , comfortable room.  Everything I needed for my stay ,

Wonderful

This place was a last minute change of plans, arranged by a local friend, for work we were doing in Waterford. We arrived at Avondale to a friendly welcome by a fella who explained all the house rules & gave us breakfast options since they weren't making it themselves at the moment. He said we could check out late as we liked and sorted us out with a big top floor room. All good. 

The room was big and cold. I mean, it was like the temperature of the outside. The windows were closed and I thought, we'll have a shower to warm up. We've got an hour before work. but no, no hot water came out. it was cold. so we shivered in the room and went to work early to get a bit of energy moving, which worked. We got back to the room late, slept in the frozen small double bed pretty well and woke up to some odd vibrations maybe caused by traffic or something. The bed head board pushes the light switch so if you turn the light off and then sit or lie or move on the bed, the light comes back on. no way to avoid that i could find. hilarious now! less hilarious at 7 in the morning...! still, did the trick, we got the sleep we needed for a 9 hour drive the next day. thanks, Waterford, I enjoyed your hospitality, in a strange sort of way.

The room was clean and lovely. However, we arrived at 18:30 to a locked door, after having responded to an email query that we’d likely arrive early evening. We rang and knocked several times and even emailed before the manager came to the door and spoke rudely.  We were told to “leave our keys on the (foyer) table” if we didn’t see him in the morning, which indeed we didn’t. The restaurant was closed for repair.  If you’re staying in town beyond 11:00, luggage can be held for €20. (I personally have never been charged for this basic service. We did find that the bus station will hold it for €2.50 per bag.)  


Poor service

Stayed here for one night and was really pleasant. A good location just across the road from Waterford Crystal and a just a short walk into town. The two guys running the place were very friendly and welcoming. 
There was no car park but the pay and display was a short walk away costing 3.60 EUR for 24 hours. 
The room was modern and the bed was so comfortable. The shower was great with toiletries and fresh towels. Would definitely recommend 

Great hotel and wonderful location 

Comfy bed, nice bathroom, very clean, easy to find, parking off site didn’t cost much and a few minutes walk. Best location to Waterford crystal, bishop palace, medieval museum, 1-2 min walk to them all

1 night stay

Room was lovely.  Very clean and comfortable.  It was quiet even though it was very close to town centre.  It was reasonably priced for such a convenient location to all amenities.  Would definitely go back.

Lovely B&B

Booked our stay here some 10 months in advance and primarily for its fantastic location right in the heart of the viking triangle in Waterford.
Arrived at 1815 after driving from the ferry at Rosslare, parking along the main road, parking available for 'dropping off', so we checked in and then the main car park at Waterside was used(24 hour parking for Euros 3.60, a day).
Its a short 5 minute walk back.
Easy check-in, polite, friendly staff and this was a very clean, quiet place to stay.
Good breakfast provided, again very friendly, helpful member of staff.
The rooms are spacious enough and overall this was a super two night stay in late June  and gave us a full day to walk all of the sites in Waterford and to enjoy two great restaurant's.
Bishop's Palace and cathedral so close...

Location, location, location...

The Avondale is a tidy B&B well situated to the centre of Waterford. The room was good. The breakfast was listed as Continental (adequate), but we were offered a full Irish, which was very good.
We felt that it was a little officious. The list of "Donts" on the back of the door has to be seen, with draconian fines for any transgression! Never seen this before. Also, we were contacted a number of times prior to arrival, which was unnecessary and wearying.

Convenient to city centre

You can’t beat the location - it is five minutes to everything! We enjoyed a great pub dinner at Geoff’s down the road. Shower was very good - hot and good pressure. Room small but bed was totally fine for one overnight. Breakfast was fine, good coffee and tea, yogurts, cereal, fruit, toast. Nice change from full Irish! Good value for the money, clean.

Great location - a bit spartan.

A nice room for a correct price in the center of the city. How ever the breakfast was (to) basic. And places (6) were to limited, so if you are not an “early bird”, you risk a bit of waiting time. Our room was at the 2 second floor with no elevator, so take that into account if you’ve got luggage.
