I've made an booking with this place and contacted the owner in the morning at the day of the arrival with our estimated time of arrival and there was no response from him at all.  Upon arriving at the place there was nobody to accommodate us and the owner just text me that the check in window closes strictly at 2PM and a minute later the check in is not possible but full charges applies. He advised that was advised in the fine print somewhere that one can hardly find during the booking process, furthermore this info regarding the check in window is missing on the  hotel confirmation as well.

Do not book, this is fraud for charging you

I have booked our trip to Bari, Italy, based on our young couple usual habits: cheapest flight, cheapest accommodation facility with private bathroom, in early May 2015. And I was really proud of my findings until I started to read all the reviews about Sveva Residence. Having the chosen the cheapest version, our reservation could not be canceled without paying in full. Therefore, we went ahead with it in spite of everything I read. Long story short:
1. The host is a very nice, typical Italian man. I was able to pay by card and he was kind enough to offer us a small discount for the time he was late (some scooter problems on his way) 15/20 minutes. So, it is accurate that you might have to wait when you arrive for check in. My advice: make the best of it! Right next door to the entrance at Sveva, they have a bar where you can enjoy some coffee /beer and forget the delay. ;)))
2. The rooms are clean and the beds nice. They have good prices because the view of the rooms is towards the back of the building. In ours, draft made the door move and make noise while closed. You would assume that's terrible, until I dragged the chair in front of it and blocked it. The bathroom could use some improvements, but you won't mind if you came to visit/sightsee and not to sit in the hotel for quality inspection.
3. Breakfast was included (cereals, milk, yogurt, fruits, coffee, tea, etc.) and the host said he would provide us on request anything else if we needed it. 
4. Very close to the railway station. The old city center is just a 10 minute walk away. So, proximity is one more advantage for Sveva.

To summarize: for non-children couples, students, backpackers, stingy people and such... this is the perfect place. What you pay is what you get (good and bad). 
If, however, you search for the same advantages and require 4 star conditions for this price (avg. EUR 50/night), just remember this is Italy and that comfort is provided for a higher amount. Or book 6 months ahead and enjoy other offers. ;)))

Residenza Sveva - make the best of it

Where to start?

We were a group of 10 who wanted to gather together to meet some of our friends in Bari.
We were told that Kerry Blu could accommodate us all, in 5 rooms with their own bathrooms, all of us under the same roof. 
We were also told that the basic price per room was €50/night and that we will get a discount as we were many, and our local friend had a common friend with the owner.

We arrived the last one of our group of friends.
Roberto (the handy man of the place) picked us up, and walked us very quickly to the place...which was not Kerry Blu but Residenza Sveva!
First surprise.
The place looked OK to be fair. But then he told us '2 couples of your friends are here, 2 others in another place, here is the address'...first fail. Our friends were in a dodgy hotel called 'hotel Giuila', nothing to do with a B&B, if we wanted an hotel we would have book an hotel.

Then Roberto explained that for breakfast there is coffee, juice, milk, bread cake, cheese and ham and yogurt in the fridge, that we can just help ourselves and it will be refiled every day.
Second fail: All was there on the first night, but the fridge got refiled only on the last night (we stayed 4 nights in total). On the other days I had to buy myself coffee, bread, cheese...
I even texted Roberto on the first day we noticed our breakfast wasn't refiled and replied me it will be fixed by the evening, but it was never.
Also, coffee caps given for the Nespresso machine were only 2 per person but not refiled every day and almost all decafeined (isn't Bari in Italy?)

Then some of our friends tried to had a shower when they arrived.
3rd fail: only cold water. We found out oursleves the morning after that there was a switch up the door in the bathroom. Roberto could have mentioned this when giving us the keys.

When the first of us left (after 3 nights), and complained about the breakfast, Roberto told them (with us hearing the whole discussion) 'I refiled the fridge, it is probably your friends who ate all and didn't tell you'. 

Then when we paid and complained Roberto's answers were:
Q: how about the discount you promised, price is still 200€
A: well if you would have book online you would have had to pay the booking company discount
-> which would have been less that 40€ for a group of 10 people...

Q: how about the cold water on first night?
A: It is not my fauld if people can't fifure it out themselves, and anyway I am sure the hot water was on, you probably turned it off yourself by mistake.

Q: We were promised that we would all stay at the same place (Residenza Sveva for example had 4 rooms, 3 that we occupied and one which remained empty for 3 nights out of 4 during our stay. Plus 2 of our rooms had extra bed inside. We could have stay all together as requested). We want a discount for that
A: No that is not possible, it is written on our airbnb page for kerry blu that you can be relocated somewhere else (not true, we checked the airbnb page during our stay to ensure that). And how do I do? if you book all my rooms I have to close my B&B?!
-> Well Roberto if we stay all at your place, we are your customers
-> basicly we were charged as much as possible, while 3 or 4 rooms were enough for us in 1 place we were given 5 rooms in 2 places (not even close to each other)

Q: the breakfast was never refiled, except last night because new guest (not from our group) arrived. I had to buy things myself. I want a discount for that
A: the fridge was refiled, and any way we don't provide any service on Sundays
->fridge was never refiled in 3 days and none of us were told of the Sunday no service

Honestly, that was one of the worst B&B experience in my life. 
Please do not give your money to Roberto, there are probably many other nice places to stay in Bari for the same price.

One more thing, the wifi works only in a area of 3sqm around the kitchen corridor, not in the rooms

Do not book here nor in Kerry Blu B&B (same place)

Amazing room, clean, comfortable...we had a jacuzzi btw. It is near everything (train station, center of the city etc), and it is a real bed and breakfast hostel. Roberto was a pretty nice guest...only bad point is that there is no one staying there all day long so we had to wait some hours to get our room keys, but besides that i hardly recommend this hostel,  i think is one of the best hostels i've ever stayed in ly life. We made reservations a month in advance.  When we arrived, nobody was there to greet us.  Had it not been for the other kind hotel guests, we would have been totally stranded.  When we finally did get in touch with Roberto, the owner, he told us that he wasn't going to come, and therefore we couldn't stay there.  He claims to have sent us an email, but he did not - we went back and checked.  He made reservations at the Hotel Europa, and abruptly hung up the phone without telling us where it was.  Luckily we were able to use his internet to figure out where the place was - in the bombed-out ghetto of Bari, in a miserable, creepy location.  The hotel staff there tried to charge us MORE than the Sveva for a dirty, disgusting room with no hallway lighting.  The breakfast was a crusty old piece of bread.  It completely ruined our stay in Bari.
