This is a place I can highly recommend No worries if u speak only English. Nelia is up to date. And don t forget the Gelaterie across the Vicole...super delicious . Nelia works in the RestaurantPosta.  so,if u arrive don t hesitate to search there

Super nice Place clean and comfie  and Nelia is amazing

My family was traveling to Lago Maggiore and had booked rooms at the large resort hotel across the street (for close to $300/night.) We found Locanda Nelia for 75 Euros/night and our room was large than theirs and very attractive (albeit we didn't have the lake view!) We were in the room called Terra, it was quiet, clean, and lovely. The Aria room on the same floor looked nice too...
However, this is not exactly a B&B - it is four rooms on two floors above a restaurant. You need to enter from the pedestrian alleyway behind the building and climb the stairs. And the place is hard to find! They do not clarify that you need to come to the their restaurant (Il Posta) where someone will meet you and take you around to the back and show you to your room. Also, their directions said to look for a traffic light in Bavenno, but weren't updated to say the traffic light had been removed. So we spent a long time asking around and finally were directed to the restaurant. BTW the restaurant is considered one of the best in Bavenno. Unfortunately the breakfast for the guests is unimpressive and was served by a grumpy young woman (not the manager, who was very competent). But overall it is a great value in an area where this is hard to find...

Wonderful value, not exactly a B&B...

Baveno is a pretty and quiet base from which to explore the western lakes. The public ferry terminal is just yards away from Locanda Nelia.

Our apartment gave us everything we needed; the breakfast service was first rate; and the adjacent restaurant gave us a first-rate fish supper.

Perfect for visiting Isola Bella

Baveno isn't the easiest place to get to via public transport but the effort is worth it, especially if you stay at Locanda Nelia.(We caught a train to Stresa and then taxi to Baveno) It is a wonderful B&B located very close to the ferry terminal and above the family run restaurant Posta. Barbara provides a warm welcome and is very helpful with local information. The rooms a spacious, modern, comfortable and it is a pleasure to visit a B&B where everything works as it should including the free in room wifi. The breakfast room for use of guests is available all day for drinks etc. Breakfast is the usual range of breads, cold meat, cheese, coffee etc. While there are plenty of dining options close by the co located Restaurant Posta  should not be missed.

Baveno and the nearby islands are definitely worth a visit and if you want to stay at one of the best B&B's I have stayed at try Locanda Nelia, you will not be disappointed.

High quality B&B in a great location

This is a small hotel/B&B tucked away in the main square of Baveno on Lake Maggiore.  What I LOVED about it was the themed rooms.  I chose Metallo, as it looked a bit "different" to normal hotel rooms.  And it was.  It had grey/silver/chrome fittings and black and white sheets & doona cover.  And after a couple of days, our bedding was changed to a different patterned black & white design.  The towels were varying shades of grey.  This may seem a strange thing to comment on, but it felt homely and different from staying in a cookie-cutter white sheet/white towel establishment.  Barbara is a wonderful host, extremely accommodating and friendly.  Breakfast was ample and varied.  Barbara's family restaurant is downstairs and is fabulous, although you are spoilt for choice in Baveno.  We spent four days around Lake Maggiore and also did day trips to Lake Orta & Zermatt in Switzerland (book at the travel agency across from the city square).  Could not fault our stay at Locanda Nelia
