We spent several days at the hotel and restaurant La Vecchia Quercia during our recent trip to Italy...  magnificent place!  This is a very small hotel (villa) and restaurant in the middle of the beautiful Italian countryside is over the top great.  The owner and his wife (the chef) have this a spectacular place.  Breakfast and dinner were fabulous, we never had lunch there due to daily road trips.  The rooms are super comfortable and totally up to date!  Every morning included cappuccinos and eggs/bacon made to order.  The several events/meals we had there were amazing...  super fresh, made to order, and delicious!  They have a fabulous wine list/cellar, some of the best wines in Italy, and very generous with pours!  Highly recommend La Vecchia Quercia for a night, a meal, a vacation!

Great Villa, Great Food, Great Hosts

Visited here on a 3-day trip in September 2017 to research my genealogy in the local area.  Found the hotel extremely comfortable, clean, spacious, with each room designed in that elegant modern Italian way.  Wide, large windows brings a beautiful light into the rooms.  Hotel owner Paolo attends to your every need, and his soul mate Daniele can cook the best of regional cuisine in the hotel's restaurant.  Hotel is located on the San Bernardino side of Bettola. Don't miss Bettola's market day on Monday.  Wineries up the road towards Vigolzone, and see Grazzano Visconti village, and Castell Arquato.

Comfort in the Valnure hills

If you are interested in a remote but extraordinarily beautiful location with nothing to do but hike, eat and enjoy, then Bettola is the location and La Vecchia Quercia is the hotel. Our winding path to the location was causing us some unrest  but when we arrived at La Vecchia Quercia, all of our doubts were put to rest. We were greeted warmly by Paolo who has been the proprietor for 19 years (much too young to be there that long). The hotel was totally renovated five years age so you will enjoy all the amenities and conveniences of a five star modern hotel. Breakfast is ample and nicely presented. Family pressures left us unable to try the inviting restaurant. Definitely worth going out of your way for.

Chic elegance in a rustic setting

My family is from Bettola and we visit every other summer. I grew up spending my days with Papi at his farm and Noni in her kitchen. This was the first trip we were unable to stay with family and had to book a hotel. The hotel was more like a home away from home by the end of the trip and the owners like extended family. The views are breathtaking, the food is outstanding far surpassing gourmet restaurants in the states, and the wine reminiscent of my Papi's vineyard. If you want a true taste of Italy do yourself a favor and spend a few days away from the tourist filled cities and see Italy at it's best and stay in this incredible hotel. We will be back next summer with our new little one so he can make his own memories of Italia.

Home away from home in Bella Italia

I just finished spending 28 days at La Vecchia Quercia.  Since 2003 I estimate thus far I have spent a total of 6 months at this hotel.  I consider it my home away from home.  The food is outstanding and the rooms are immaculate.  My first year 2003 at this hotel I booked a dinner for 23 relatives. I had a dinner in 2011 for my daughters.  I recommended to other relatives when traveling to Bettola,  Italy to stay at this hotel.  On all occasions they  agreed that the quality of food and service was outstanding.  I will be returning in 2015.
