Borgo Mucellena is an out of the way country stay with good quality accomodation, very helpful and friendly staff who go to extra trouble to assist and advise on places to visit in the area and how to best get there, we so enjoyed our stay that we would have no hesitation in staying there anytime we are in Tuscany again.

wonderful stay

We went to Borgo Muccelena in September. It is a beautiful place to stay there when traveling to the medival villages in Tuscany and famous cities like Pisa and Florence. Our appartment included a kitchen, little bath- and bedroom and a living room. All in that beautiful italian style. The vineyard is located on the peak of mountain and it's about a twenty minute drive to the next village. It's a good place to relax with very tasty red wine and delicious breakfast. Most days there is only Italian speaking staff in the later afternoon and evening. If you get an apartment on the ground floor you should pay attention not leave any food open because of many ants. But instead of this little animal problem I can fully recommend Borgo Muccelena. Unfortunately we couldn't use the pool due to heavy rain and really cold wind.

Interested that some people write reasonable reviews about this place.
What you should know:
They have no eftpos machine, its cash only for your stay, which is not necessarily discussed at the beginning, and certainly not advertised on their site.
There was absolutely no apology for this inconvenience.
The room was COLD
The aircon looked 'On' but was clearly not working.
I had to ask for extra blankets - there were none available in the room.
There is NO WI-FI in the room, again, no apology, saying we should be using it in the lobby area (separate building far away from the 'comfort' and privacy of the room)
Holes in sheets, pillow cases (cigarette burn holes I think) ALSO in towels!!
The room was extremely bare - beyond spartan in style, more like prison cell styling
They make no attempt at communication in any other language but Italian
The pool looked nice but the weather was too cold to attempt.
Surprised that tripadvisor recommends this place, overpriced dump.

This hotel cancelled our booking at the last minute & without explanation. The hotel was un-contactable.  What could have been a disaster was averted by great customer service from Booking.com.  By the recent photos on Trip Advisor, I think the hotel did us a favour!

Don't risk booking this hotel

It was a transection. The hotel is okay, the owner is nice as well. The problem is that they do not care about service, and food. No professionalism just cheap solutions for tourists. 
The dinner was including the price, but it was the worst dinner ever. The bread was older that 3 days. The olive oil was in a plastic cheap glass, the bruscetta was terrible, the spagetti too. For breakfast there was the cheapest ham from the supermarket. Seriously? In tuscany? Such a disapointment!
