Immaculate rooms in a beautiful hotel just off the city central square in Castelrotto. We did the 'half-board' (includes breakfast and dinner) which I cannot recommend highly enough. Dinner is multiple courses, very well prepared and presented, in typical German portions. 
Gunther, the owner, is a tireless and surprisingly (so late in the season) cheerful and talkative  host. He held dinner for us one night  well past the normal cutoff after we got lost hiking. It was way above and beyond and it made our night. 
The hotel is a picture-perfect postcard of a place, with great food and service, in the middle of the spectacular Dolomites. There were many lodging choices in the area. So glad we chose this one.

Ordered a meal and the salad bar! Salad bar was empty and never replenished! Spoke to wait staff and they indicated they would refill the salad buffet. Had the waiter remove charges for the salad bar, since it was never refilled!

Find somewhere else to eat!

Of the restaurants in Castelrotto it is definitely the best... as quality of the dishes and care of the layout and service. Unfortunately two bad news: a bottle of natural water 4.90 euros... when the water supply is made 30 meters from the restaurant... and at the time of the bill we indicated that we were customers of the nearby hotel structure for which we should have benefited from the discount of 10%, but the owner said very quickly and almost spookedly that we had already issued the counter and that he would not do it to us.

Like drowning in a glass of water.

Just stayed at this hotel, very spacious and beautiful mansion, very friendly and available staff, excellent dinner, varied breakfast and very good products.

That's a good idea.

I've never been to Castelrotto and I'm very happy to have found this lovely and historic hotel. Beautiful location, at the base of the hill of Castelrotto and the easy walk to reach it, at the same time central and convenient for the car. We ate (and drank) very well, the service is attentive and the owners are kind and very hospitable.

Delightful stay in Castelrotto

Arriving at the Zum Turm you can already breathe the fresh air of the Dolomites, not only for the location of the hotel, but also for the kindness of the staff. Accommodation and availability assured. Care in the preparation of dishes and attention to requests: taste and style! Always ready plan B: vegan! I recommend the holiday at the Zum Turm for all ages 😉! B.

That's great!

We stayed for a week in this wonderful and characteristic hotel located in the center of Castelrotto, with our 2-year-old child. Hotel in a strategic but secluded location, with private parking at two steps, super comfortable. The hotel is really very well maintained. The room that was assigned to us was beautiful and spacious, and was cleaned daily. The restaurant is a strong point, elegant and really beautiful; the breakfast is very good and very rich and varies in buffet, the dinner is really exquisite and never lacked the kindness and sympathy of all the rooms and the owner who have also made my child laugh at creepy pace. All the staff is very kind and attentive to any request and need.

A perfect vacation

The best restaurant in Castelrotto, typical dishes are very original. Excellent presentation as well as quality. Wide choice also for vegetarians.

Superlative restaurant

The room was big, clean, and well equipped.  The location was central in a cute little town, a few steps from the bus station to get around the broader area.

The food was amazing.  The breakfast buffet was pretty awesome but, if you elect half-board, you will eat Michelin-quality dinners.  The lamb we ate on the first night there will be forever remembered as one of the best meals we've ever had.  When you factor this in, staying at the hotel is a tremendous value.

But, I have to say I was a little bit disturbed when, on our last day there, we noticed the poster by the reception desk honoring all of the local boys who died fighting for the Nazis.  I am fully aware of the history of South Tyrolia (including their struggles with Italian nationalism and so forth) and all of its implications ... but still, displaying something like that, historical value or not, which so glorifies Nazism doesn't have a place in the 21st century (unless, heaven forbid, they are trying to appeal to a certain demographic that feels differently ... and most of their customers are in fact Germans of a certain age).  So, bottom line, if you will be bothered by something like this, don't stay here.

Wonderful place with wonderful food in a wonderful area

We had dinner last night, and the disappointment was total, typical place where you can find dishes on the menu that look sleazy, but actually they're only on paper. My wife ordered some grated macaroons with almonds, turned out to be a very simple pasta that was drowned in the tomato, on my risotto, wearing a pathetic veil that was inedible, in fact, we both left everything on the plate and the waiters didn't even ask us for anything, and there was a lot of waiting time.
