Visited Merano and Bolzano over the long weekend and stayed at Calma.  The views are amazing, you certainly feel like you are in the middle of the vast orchards you see while driving.  The owners were fantastic, made us feel welcome, the grounds are neatly kept and the apartment was super convenient and clean.  It is nice to have a well-equipped kitchen for the meal you may want to just have in your balcony with such fantastic views.  Coming back to this serene spot after hours of hiking or touristing the towns was certainly the highlight of our holiday.

Great stay

Booking.com helped us to find that little relaxing oasis. The hotel is out of town in the middle of wine plantages eith a great view to Meran. The team is very friendly and helpful, the house very clean and in very good conditions. They offer a good breakfast! 

Quiet relaxing place

Great location, stunning view especially from the breakfast terrace and the pool. Owner family and staff super friendly. Whole appartments are newly renovated and in very good shape. The hotel is up in the wine yards in a beautiful setting.

Relax in the middle of the wine yard

A great break, in a very nice location.  Not for people with wide cars or for people not used to narrow lanes in the hillside, and you will probably need a good navigator.  Almost certainly not for those with noisy children.  The food was good and well presented, we would however suggest that a samovar be invested in for the breakfast buffet - to help the guests help themselves to boiling water for tea (save the staff running to the kitchen and ensuring hotter water to make better tea).  The garden is an oasis.  The view is superb, the rooms are adequate.

We stayed two days at Hotel Unterstein. Originally I resisted booking here because something about the room pictures reminded me of an impersonal business hotel. But when every other place we tried in the vicinity was booked, I decided to go ahead with Hotel Unterstein since they had availability. I am so glad that I did. Our room was very comfortable, Yes, there is a lot of dark woodwork, but that is sort of the alpine style and the furniture offered a tremendous amount of storage which was great. And it was comfortable - especially the bed. The bathroom was modern and clean, although not very large. We had both breakfast and dinner included in our room rate. Breakfast was a delicious buffet and the weather allowed us to eat on the terrace. Dinner started with a cocktail time on the terrace at 6PM, which was lovely. There was a prosecco based mixture in a punch bowl that you could help yourself to and an array of simple appetizers. This is followed by a salad buffet at 6:30. By the way, virtually all of the produce is grown on the premises and was fresh and delicious. Then dinner at 7PM, with choices from a menu.The food was great. Another strong point was the young lady who seemed to be the manager. She spoke excellent English and was very helpful during our stay. The location is just below Castle Lebenberg.  The surroundings are simply beautiful. You can easily get to the walking trails that are so popular here.
