Maison Sam' Suffy

Challand-St -Victor is described as a town but in fact it is a lovely little village in the foot hills of the Italian Alps. Sam' Suffy is to be found in a very narrow back street just beyhond the church. We stopped outside which blocked the road, not a problem as it was so quiet, however you will find a perfectly safe car park just before the church. Now, don't do as I did and climb the steps and knock on the front door, see the sign and opening in the front wall and ring the bell a little way down the alley. We were greeted by Fabio who showed us to our room and expained that we could find an evening meal about four miles away in Verres or for 25 euros per head he could provide us with dinner. We settled into a beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean unique room and decided to go for the in house meal. There is no choice, you have what Fabio cooks and it is served by his lovely wife who I must appologise to as I have forgotten her name. Make sure you are hungry, it was five courses!! We had coffee and a bottle of local wine as extras. A wander around the village in the warm night air topped the day off. After a good nights sleep we were set up for the day with a more than ample continental breakfast. There has been a great deal of thought put into detailing this very special B&B. The building is very old as are the surrounding ones. Dont expect balconies and gardens. There is a bench seat outside the bedroom door where you can soak up the sun. We found the place both quirky and facinating. Thank you for a lovely over night stop.
