Maxim Axial Hotel 

I’m so glad I didn’t read a lot of reviews before booking the Hotel Maxim Axial. We stayed 3 nights in late July, and experienced none of the negatives some people have reported in their reviews. We had a lovely stay and felt like very welcome and valued guests. Maybe my phone conversations with Sabrina (reception) before booking directly were a factor in our good experience here. She was always gracious in answering all my questions and concerns, long before our arrival. We were pleased with our very clean, comfortable room, with its modern look, and the view onto Via dei Calzaiuoli and Giotto’s campanile. I particularly enjoyed hearing its bells at regular intervals.while, at the same time having a very quiet environment for sleeping at night. Our room was conveniently located down the hall from reception. Ours must have been one of the recently renovated rooms, as not only was it well appointed, including a mini fridge, and even a little bar sink, but the spacious bathroom really impressed. with its huge, modern shower. The hotel does have an elevator, albeit small, but the mere fact of having an elevator in an old building in the historic center of a city like Florence is in itself something to be appreciated. Beyond its optimal location, just a few minutes walk from the Duomo and Baptistry, and Piazzas like Repubblica and Signoria, abundant choices of bars and restaurants, its pleasant sitting areas, and its well appointed rooms, the aspect that made me most want to return was the staff, particularly Sabrina. After a long day trip to Siena, we just wanted to go out for a classic bistecca alla Fiorentina dinner without having to do research or trek across the city exhausted. When I asked Sabrina for a recommendation, she did much more than offer a suggestion. She called the restaurant and got us a reservation at the ideal time we wanted. We had an authentic, amazingly delicious dinner in a relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere served by friendly , attentive, professionals at the Agricola Toscana, just a few minutes stroll from Hotel Maxim Axial.
