Hotel Machiavelli Palace 

The hotel is situated in a brilliant location, a five minute walk from the main train station and right in the centre of Florence with most of the main attractions, such as the duomo complex, no more than a twenty minute walk away. The hotel its self is very clean and the staff are extremely helpful. The hotel offers breakfast as well during your stay. We opted out of this due to being busy and needing to have breakfast closer to the attractions we were visiting that day, but there was a large space downstairs with a continental buffet every morning. Our room was a triple, so a double and a single, and was very spacious. The beds were very comfortable, the room had air conditioning, there was a good size TV and the bathroom was a great size as well with a bath and shower. There were always clean towels supplied for us in the room everyday and the cleaning staff were great. However, not matter how hard we tried to set the safe in the room, it didn’t lock despite following the instructions, so just check that the safe does work and raise the concern with staff if it doesn’t. The hotel wasn’t too noisy either, with minimal disruption from the street below. Obviously there was some noise from the bars below, but nothing disruptive at all. However, the highlight of the hotel was the rooftop bar. The cocktails were a tad expensive, some prices at €18, but we tried one of these on the last night and they were worth the price and expertly crafted by the friendly bar tenders. Sometimes you would even get free nibbles with the drinks you ordered if you visited earlier in the evening. But the views from this rooftop were incredible and it’s a brilliant way to spend the final moments of your evening. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would seriously consider booking this same hotel again if I was to return to Florence.
