i went here on a school ski trip and i was mortified. We arrived at our rooms to discover hardly any storage space, dirty mattresses, a manky, ratty blanket and paper thin sheets which were meant to be our duvets. Their were bolts missing in the bunk bed which made it unsturdy and unsafe and when you climbed up, the whole bed moved and almost tipped over. Many beds broke in other students rooms due to this. The bathroom wasn’t awful but when we first arrived, the water from the tap was cloudy and sometimes even brown which then prevented us from being able to brush our teeth or wash our hands without using our own bottled water. Also the shower rarely had hot water. However, the worst part was definitely the food. I hardly ate a single meal when I was at this hotel because the food was raw and overall grim. I can’t believe that this hotel would actually feed people food like this, every night we had to either buy food from the shops down the road or eat something that we brought with us. We were also told that there would be entertainment and a pool to go in, which were both lies as there was no entertainment and the pool was closed the whole time. Finally, due to the lift being broken, we had to carry our extremely heavy suitcases up the stairs which is a safety hazard. Therefore, we were all buzzing to get home.

I took 50 children and 6 staff to the Hotel Galassia in February half-term 2023. I really liked the hotel.

Good points:
-Location is great. It's ski in, ski out, unless you're a complete beginner in which case you'd startb in the nursery slope at the bottom. There's an underground corridor which takes you to the hotel's ski and boot storage rooms. Then you walk through the underground garage and you're 50 metres from the middle of the main Prato Nevoso blue run. The beginners were skiing from here as well after a couple of days.
The Beppe hire shop is also next to the piste here. Very friendly guy called Luca, speaking excellent English, quickly solved any issues we had with out equipment.
-Friendly and helpful hotel staff. Shout out to the manager, Marco. One of our students broke his collar bone on the last day. An ambulance took us to the hospital, 30 or so minutes away on the town of Mondovi. Marco picked us up afterwards and got us safely back to the hotel. Make sure you have an EHIC/GHIC card if you're travelling from the UK, as the xray and consultation with the doctor in the hospital was free with this. It costs 150 Euro if you use the medical centre in Prato Nevoso though - we had a fractured thumb earlier in the week.
-Rooms are clean. They are cleaned daily to a very high standard, with my clothes even being folded!
-The bar is a big space, and there are some smaller rooms you can use for quiz night, movie night, etc. Also a small room with a pool table.

Negative points:
-I'd describe the food as functional. Nice continental buffet breakfast, with juice and a hot drink machine. Lunch was a bowl of pasta and sauce each day, with fruit available. Dinner was 3 courses. First course is another bowl of pasta and sauce, meat or fish based main, and a small Italian dessert. Main courses portion size was a bit small, and there was barely a vegetable in sight.

Conclusion:
I'd definitely recommend this hotel for a school ski trip. The price was good, and if the food was better I'd give it the full 5 star rating.

A bit about Prato Nevoso. This is an excellent resort for beginners and intermediates, and they can make lots of progression. It's almost all blue and red runs, and the beginners were getting across to Artesina by the end of the week. Also really enjoyed the snow park in Prato Nevoso. Lots of box/pipe/rail features of varying difficulty, along with small, medium and absolutely huge jumps. The whole snowpark is unnderneath the main Prato Nevoso chairlift, so there's plenty of entertainment on the chair ride. You also get a cheer from people on the lift if you fail or succeed doing a trick, which is fun! 
Most of the lifts are old and could do with being upgraded, but even in half-term the slopes were very quiet. No crowds at all. I'd prefer a quiet resort with old lifts to a crowded resort with modern lifts. 
There's a supermarket, a few bars, and a nice row of shops at the bottom of the the main Prato Nevoso ski runs.

Great for a school trip

As a student that had been skiing since I was 3, on black runs by the time I was 7, a school skii trip was my dream trip ( the fact I got to watch everyone fall!) 
Hotel Galassia Is based right at the side ( middle) of the main red slope ( more like a blue) towards the main ski lift. It’s a 1-2 minute walk depending on how icy the car park is from the hotel to the slope.
There is a small food shop and I mean small! Which is just a cross the car park and a 5 minute walk to the skiing hire shop. 
The hood room is situated at the bottom of the hotel which is nice in some ways yet a little inconvenient as it was a slow and painful walk back to to our rooms if we forgot anything! 
I’m not a fussy eater generally, I skii in Italy and many other country’s every year  but the food there in all honestly wasn’t the best.I mean, I was ok and wasn’t fused much , We ended up getting the menu re done for everyone as non of the other kids on the trip weren’t eating! ( I don’t think they’ve every been abroad !).
Room wise, I shared a room with 2 others, it was far bigger then I expected and was pleasantly surprised, for a school tip I think this hotel is decent, yes there were pices here and there that were a little on the unpainted or damaged side but I was ther for the skiing ! As long as I had a compfy bed I was fine!
I do suggest getting some more data! I always find deal pakages for when I go on my travels anyway due to me spending all day in the mountains but I know allot of other kids were having to use my hotspot as there wasn’t enough WiFi to hold 150 teenagers not including staff and school teachers.
It’s a small area but being in the top group and the highest experienced our af all 150 kids with us, mw and a few others were able to venture off with our instructors to Artezina and a cross the other side too!
Some of the views were spectacular, especially if you turn right as you get off the main char loft and head onto the gondola! On that it’s about a 3 minute ride across the mountain with the view of the Alps and the valley below!
Our instructor also took us out for the whole day to head further towards the right ( if you look on a pice map) where you go up a steep button lift to see a mountain where at the start of some movies there’s a mountain with start above it, that! It was AMAZING! 
There are also a few black runs too, like I’ve said, depending of weather they can be icy or they can be all slushy.
If you go into the village you can go tubing! I know we did go and we all had to pay €2 but it was epic! All light up disco lights and different heights to tube Down!
I also recommend the night skiing! It was a bit more expensive but so worth it! If you get the chance, I would recommend it !
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, as being in year 9 at the time it was a memory I will never forget!
 The staff were really kind and the pool was great yet you have to wear a cap.
I made so many new friends and highly recommend it!

School skii trip

My son just got back here from a week with his school. He said the food was awful , he described it as sometimes looking like it had been in a can for years and then chucked onto a plate. 
He said it was great for being near the slopes and skiing however the food has put him off wanting to go again as he’s barely eaten for a week. 

Not the best hotel 

The hotel location is fantastic for skiers who want to jump on their skies and go straight off in the morning as soon as you wake up as the hotel is situated right next to the slopes.
It is not in the center of the resort, so you can enjoy a pleasantly quiet, sporty time at this hotel.

There is a lovely pool for whom wants to relax after a good day of skiing.

The staff are amazingly helpful, kind and with a great humour. They will do their absolute best to make your guests and their clients happy.

Great place to stay.

English ski group

My daughter recently visited on a school trip.  The waiting/kitchen staff were friendly, they were apologetic when there was a mistake with the food. However, the vegan food was awful, salty, greasy and barely edible.  The ‘vegan’ packed breakfast/lunch contained cake, a croissant and a Magnum chocolate bar!  Breakfast was just bread rolls which were sometimes stale and tinned fruit, the fruit often didn’t look fresh either. 

Apparently money went missing from some of the students rooms, the hotel have said they will pay this back!  

Friendly staff, awful food!

Wonderful hotel in wonderful ski resort. Everything was just perfect, from the weather to the skiing to the food and the views. Mauro and his staff couldn't do enough for us and treated us like royalty. The hotel is perfectly situated: a walk through  an underground tunnel brings you within a couple of metres of the piste and then you have access to a huge range of lifts and runs. Great skiing!

Ski trip to heaven

We went for the final week of the ski season so the resort was slowing down but Mauro and his staff at the Hotel Galassia made our family stay really enjoyable. We were upgraded to an apartment so that we didn't get bothered by the noise of a (lovely) school who were also staying in the hotel. We loved the food - traditional Italian. Superb hospitality.

The hotel is 2km from town but it is possible to ski down once you have basic skills. This hotel is more suited to a coach trip if you are going as a school so that you can use the coach to access the resort easily. A lovely ski area - small but lots of great pistes and a snow park.

Friendly staff made our stay really special.

The hotel is located very near the slopes however if you are in a large group you must walk a mile in an underground tunnel to the ¨boot room¨ where you will cover yourself in mud and dust and then walk across a car park to then struggle onto the piste. The food is below average and often served in very small portions. Pasta was served repeatedly and the food was always cooked with meat, this is hugely inconvenient for vegetarians and those with allergies. Our towels were not cleaned once in the 8 days we were there despite leaving them on the bathroom floor as we were asked to. A minority of the staff were highly rude often ignoring the pupils. The beds were not comfortable and broke very easily. This hotel was not appropriate for our school group of 37 pupils and 6 teachers.
