The location of the bar/restaurant is excellent but the service is really bad and extremely unpolite.
It’s plenty of other places where you can have the same drink/food with a much more friendly service. Just walk away.

Stay away from the restaurant

Albergo Gargnano is on the corner of Gargnano harbour.  If you sit at one of the outside tables, you can see all the boating activity on the lake, including the ferries, and all the residents purposefully going about their business on the Via Roma.  

DH Lawrence sat in that exact spot a hundred years ago, but he didn't have the benefit of an Aperol Spritz to keep him cool.

The staff at the Albergo are friendly.  They speak a little German and almost no English, which is fine, because it gives English-speakers the opportunity to try out their Italian.

The food is simple, but very well prepared.  During the day, there are specials for cake and coffee, and the cake is delicious!

Most of the times we visited were for a drink, but on one occasion, we decided to have an evening meal.  It was delicious.  Allesandro (who I think is the owner) prepared a seafood risotto, followed by zabaglione.  Both cooked to order, and accompanied by a bottle of Garda white wine (I can't remember the type).  While we ate, the yacht Siora Veronica hosted an event about 20 feet away.  

The whole evening was lovely.  Allesandro is to be commended for his food and his staff - they made the evening special for us.

Possibly the best place in the world to sit and watch people go by

If you’re looking for an authentic relaxing Italian holiday this is the place to go. The hotel is a small family run hotel overlooking Lake Garda. The rooms are a good size and clean, there are no TVs!! Just what you need when you want to get away from it all. If you are desperate for communication there is free Wi-Fi . The whole area is good to visit from the south of the lake at Sirmione up to Riva del Garda in the north.  Gargnano is ideal base being in the middle and with ferry boats throughout the day. Well worth a visit.

Relaxing holiday at Lake Garda

I had pasta with pesto sauce, it looked good and although some of the pasta seemed uncooked I ate it, I was hungry ,1.40pm they close at 2pm.

At 3pm on the way back to the house we had rented I felt a twinge, by the time we got home I had to visit the toilet for the first of many !!
The next day seemed ok, until 1pm when the same twinge came back and the result was the same, worse because we were on the way home by car.
Yes, the girl seemed charming, the place is in great location, but the family just sit around all day outside, standards are poor.

When you read this Albergo you will be annoyed, NOT AS MUCH AS ME. 

If I could I would have given you the pasta back, all of it AND MORE !!!

Food poisened in ONE HOUR.................

We stayed a few nights in this wonderful small Albergo perched footsteps from Lake Garda.  Its on the lake and that's where you want to be in a place like Gargnano.  Actually we extended our stay as we enjoyed everything about the accommodation and the village of Gargnano.  Ask for the room onto the small harbour and its the one with the only balcony and it would have to be the best.  The Albergo Gargnano is extremely well priced for what you get and of course not to forget the amazing breakfast buffet served on the terrace area overlooking the harbour and the lake. 

The family that own and operate the Albergo will take care of all your needs and enquiries you may have.  I'm giving it 5 stars here taking into account all that I've mentioned above.  Another great thing about Gargnano is that it seems to have not been found by all that many tourists yet.
Don't delay go and visit and stay at the Albergo.

The views alone put this Albergo right up there!

I agree with most of the comments that are made, but I loved it.  We had room 10 on the second floor, no lift but a lovely marble staircase, a wonderful room. The views are probably the best on the whole of Lake Garda.  We stayed in 8 hotels on this trip, this is my favourite with the best rate and the best bed.  If you want all matching stuff in the room and you don't like quirky, this is not for you. The family hotel seems to be run by the hard working daughter/sister who we found to be charming and very helpful. Coffee and breakfast or an evening beer on the lake and harbour side is idyllic. This is a wonderful location with the best rates in town and right near the ferry, not miles to walk, but very, very quiet. The pace of life here is slow!! but to repeat I loved it.
