What can we say about our stay? It was a most wonderful and restful stay of 5 days in a beautiful 1800’s villa, set in beautiful gardens with a view to Lago Maggiore. Cinzia lives with her family on site and the B&B of 3 double bedrooms each with their own bathroom facilities is set on the ground floor. 

Breakfast is served in a large room with an original ceiling painting and there is a full selection of anything you may require to eat and drink. Marzia assists in serving breakfast and her smile and happy nature was a joy to have first thing in the morning. 

Cinzia welcomed us to her villa and gave us maps and lots of information of what to do and see during our stay. She also touched base with us at least once a day to make sure we had everything we needed. 

Our room was spacious with a desk, an extra single bed , hanging rack, bedside tables and plenty of good lighting for reading etc, tea making facilities and mats on the tile floors. There was a heater both in the room and in the bathroom. The bathroom was very spacious with a towel drying rack, dresser, good vanity and mirrors. Hair and Bodywash was provided and plenty of towels. There was also complimentary wifi.

We had the ROSE room and this room had a little balcony and a view of Lago Maggiore and the mountains. 

The villa is secure behind a wrought iron fence and at night, you could press a switch that lit up the garden to make your way to the front door. Parking is in one of two places directly out the front or there are five places about 70 metres away. A GPS will take you directly to the villa but make sure you follow the correct road. There are two roads closely parallel so take the lower road!

We would definitely recommend this beautiful villa to anyone visiting the lakes area.

Our piece of heaven

Stayed here for 2 days at the end of a 4 week Europe holiday. Awesome. Only 3 rooms in a 130 year old villa overlooking the lake (up the hill a little way). Huge room. Vaulted ceiling. Our host, Cinzia, was most helpful.  The accommodation matched a wonderful environment. A place to rest, and gather some final memories before heading home. We had a hire car, and while the address seemed complicated, the GPS got us easily to the front door. We drove a bit around the area, and think that by luck we were in the best village (Laveno). We would happily stay there again.

Cinzia our hostess was so helpful. She picked us up from the train station and cooked us
breakfast every morning and then took us to a special train station that we did not know about so that we would get to Malpensa Airport on train. She went out of her way to help us.
Her beautiful heritage home was the highlight of the stay and we felt very welcome. It was
only a short walk to the town from her house. Be sure to use the chair lift as soon as you arrive.
We missed out because it closes at 6pm and the next day the weather was terrible for the view.

Magic place to stay

A very warm welcome from the owner, Cizia. we had the orange twin bed room which was spacious and comfortable. there was Tea & Coffee facilities albeit getting your own milk from the kitchen fridge. Beds were comfy and clean. The shower was a little on the small size but ok if you are a size 8. Hairdryer  is available.
Our room looked out on the log store and yard but if you stretched could just about see the lake.
Breakfast was served by Marthia...always happy with a smiley face in your cappuccino.Cereals 

Italy's Gem

The B&B:
We chose Villa Clementina for our 6 night stay by lake Maggiore and we don't regret it a minute. The signora who runs the B&B is extremely friendly and helpful, and she really cares for her guests and wants to help them maximizing their Lago Maggiore experience. AND she speaks excellent english, which is not easily found here. We had the "Azzurro" room which had a double bed and ensuite bathroom (shower). Although the rooms was not overly spacey it was clean and covered our needs. The only thing we found on the negative side was the bed, which we found a bit too hard, but that is obvoiusly a subjective judgement. 

The town:
Laveno may not be the obvious choice for a Maggiore holiday, but we found it a pleasant, quiet location and a nice base for exploring the area. We travelled by train and bus - i.e without a car - and the trains connections to and from Milan are quite good with a direct route from Malpensa. From Laveno there is a ferry (cars allowed) to Intra, which has connections to other parts of the lake such as Stresa and the Borromean islands. The ferry runs about once an hour from early morning to midnight. We had thought about doing the Lago Maggiore Express tour during our stay (boats on the lake combined with the Centovalli railway), but listening to other guests we decided to leave it for another time as we were told that being based in Laveno it was quite hectic to manage the whole trip in one day. It is definately doable, but according to the guests it was a bit stressful taking care that the last connectrion to Intra was not missed. From what we've heard we think it's easier to do this trip being based further north along the lake with more connections to choose from.

The overall impression from Villa Clementina is very postive and we highly recommend others to stay at this nice B&B.
