What a Gem. Gorgeous setting and spacious accommodation. Stayed 5 nights. Within Walking distance of the main part of town. Parking outside and an easy drive to main attractions in southern Puglia.  Staff are amazing. Breakfast was delightful and fresh. Would gladly stay again

Perfect Puglia

From the warm welcome from the lovely Beatrice to our beautiful terraced room to the yummy breakfast. This property tucked in the backstreet close to the old city was a hidden oasis.
The garden was lovely to sip coffee, we loved everything about this property. Recently renovated.

Short but Very Sweet

Fantastic location and outstanding cheery helpful staff make this a great option for visiting Lecce and the Pulgia region. The old town is a short walk and both the Adriatic and Ionic coasts are an hour or two drive away. Best of all, Beatrice and Francesca truly go out of their way to make your visit special, with great advise and a truly cheerful disposition. Breakfast is great with a private shared courtyard area.

Great location, fantastic staff make this a great option as a base for touring Puglia.

Dark room on the ground floor (light only comes from a small window and the front door - which has a window - faces a wall), only one outlet on each side of the bed (used for the lamp so if you want to charge your device, you need to unplug), no “master” switch to turn off the lights.

Bathroom could have been better as well - small shower cubicle. 

Overall, slightly underwhelming experience although the palace is nice; it could have been renovated better.

The Palazzo dei Dondoli is a magnificent property that is an oasis from the bustling city of Lecce.  The management and staff do an outstanding job catering to their guests every needs.  We were a large multi-generational group (over 20 guests).  From a 7 year old to an 80 year old, everyone felt important and included.  The breakfast meals were perfect starters to a busy day!  The roof garden that was open to us exclusively,  gave a beautiful panoramic vista of the surrounding area.  We were served an exquisite light meal away from the blistering heat that the area was experiencing.  The attentive staff (especially Nicolo and Debra) provided many recommendations for dinner meals and local activities.   We would recommend this property and our total experience to anyone!

Wonderful Family Vacation!

We booked a garden view room in this hotel, which is located about a 5 minute walk from the old, walled part of Lecce. I had thought we would be given one of the rooms pictured on the website, located I think at the end of each wing of the building, and with its own terrace overlooking the neighbouring large garden, but instead we had a room (one of three) on the top floor of the building. There is no lift, so this meant carrying our staircases up several flights of stairs. Our room was in the middle of the floor, and lead off a large terrace and then a shared dining room with a galley kitchen. This room was never explained to us, so I'm not sure who is allowed to use it. Our bedroom opened onto a narrow balcony with one chair and three air-conditioning units — one for each of the adjoining rooms, as well as one for our room. On the second night the rooms on either side of ours were occupied and you could hear the other guests as they came and went from their rooms, or talked on their phones. The pump of the solar hot water system, which was on the roof above our room, was also audible, like a muffled siren noise. Breakfasts in the ground floor dining room were OK, but there wasn't a huge choice (e.g. no toast or eggs offered). We were given a reduction in our tariff to cover the inconvenience of the noise, which was kind of the owner, Deborah. 
One thing to note is that the check-in times we were notified of when we booked (4.30pm-8pm), and which we abided by, do not seem to apply as Deborah told us we could have checked in earlier in the afternoon. Parking is easily available in the streets outside.
It is a pity that the rating system on Trip Advisor doesn't have an extra category between Average (3 stars) and Very Good (4 stars), as I would rate Palazzo Dei Dondoli as Good, not merely average.

Top floor room comes with pluses and minuses

 If you come to Lecce, especially by car, this is the perfect place. Easy street parking. If you are in the historic section, you will not be able to drive in. The location is just outside the historic section and an easy walk in.  Aside from the location, it’s a wonderful place with a kind and caring staff. Debora, the manager, speaks English and is just the nicest person. Very helpful. The breakfasts were great. Common areas inside and out. We had the apartment which is very roomy and comfortable with an expansive veranda overlooking the patio. You really can’t go wrong here.

Great place/Friendly Staff/Easy Parking

Totally enjoyed our 4 night off season sejour. Huge suite, great bedding, relaxed atmosphere. Hosts were helpful, charming and generous. 
Breakfast was excellent, high quality pastry, hams, cheeses. So you need four double espressos to wake up, the last is served with as much charm as the first. 
Free bottled water and afternoon tea and pastries.
Insider tip by pass booking sites and call directly to book. The missing commission will be  rendered in kind. Don’t be shy.

If you arrive by car there is free on street parking another plus that makes this address unbeatable. The walk into town is less than 5 minutes.

Must admit the acoustics in the breakfast room are not great, steaming the milk sounds like a freight train but the cuppacino is worth it.

Very pleasant stay

This property is damp and is a health hazard. We had 2 suites and they were both very damp and smelled horrible. All of our clothing needed to be washed after only spending 2 nights there. Don't believe the reviews indicating that the suites are not damp. They are! Stay away.

This was a wonderful place to stay and enjoy both the excellent hospitality of Deborah and Niki, and live in the peace and comfort outside the walls of the old city. Breakfasts were a joy and set us up for the day. Lecce is amazing as a tourist centre to appreciate the glory of the Baroque age. You can also take tours organised through the Tourist Information Centre which open up the whole of the Southern Salento area, right down to the end of the world as the romans called it.
