We had an amazing stay at the Pensione Ristorante La Sirena. We already visited the place for the 3rd time and as always we really enjoyed the 4 nights stay.
The 4 rooms available are small but charming and clean. Waking up with that view is amazing. The restaurant is something we are always looking for when we visit the aeolian islands: The food is simply great!
Last but not least the team in the hotel and restaurant is super friendly, helpful and they really know what they do. Even if the atmosphere is relaxed one can see that most of the staff has experience in gastronomy. We especially like the spirit of the young team.

Amazing time

It was like we arrived on a set of a 1960’s Italian movie ...authentic, great atmosphere, great food, very caring service, family vibe. One of the highlight dinner of our holiday. There was another service at 10h30 after we left but never felt rushed

Terrific place for the view you can see Salina in the night, under the moon light. We ate fish, it is not bad but, for food in general, you have a few dishes to choose. It is expensive. Final score 5/10

I see other visitors have pretty much slammed this establishment, which is both a café/restaurant, and a pensione.  If you are in Pecorini, however, I'm not sure where else you could stay...  You might have to go back to the main harbor of Filicudi.
     I had a somewhat different experience: we were staying with an Italian friend in the Aeolian Islands and breezed into La Sirena twice -- my hostess gave us a long disquisition on the owner (not sure if this has been the owner all along that some visitors had experience with), who is from the Italian mainland, has such and such businesses, and only comes to Filicudi for short periods -- no doubt in the summer.  But all that is mostly irrelevant; we had snacks and sat outside on the terrace.  It was pretty warm and the scene was quiet, dreamy.  It seemed like there wasn't much that needed saying and our demands of the café were minimal.  We loved the location and although we were in the islands in June, no one seemed to be around.
     Considered among the grand sweep of places to go in Italy, these islands seem special and isolated -- the last in a mostly good way.  It is largely Italians to be seen in the majority of the locales, and they seem to want to keep it that way.  The ferries are not guaranteed to get the island you are heading for -- and this is true even in the summer; so the transportation is hit or miss.  Our hostess observed that in her last visit down here, in October, she was stuck on one island for three days.  So keep your schedule flexible.
     I found the islands relaxing, regenerating.  I could easily stay there for a month, writing or whatever -- but I may be a little strange.
    Stromboli (see my other review) is up the road and worth a hike if you can fit it in.

lovely locale, restful ambience

We spent four nights at La Sirena this summer and had a pretty disappointing experience. The "pensione" is located in the enchanting Pecorini bay - the best base to explore Filicudi - and its restaurant is very good. However, the rooms are tiny, shabby and certainly not worth their price. Our bed sheets were torn and the bed itself collapsed one night when a leg broke. Room service was poor - for example, when we arrived we noticed that the floor had not been swept. The owner was generally unwelcoming, spending plenty of time chatting to his friends dining at the restaurant but never approaching any of the guests who were staying in the pensione to ask them how they were doing. I thoroughly recommend going to Filicudi/Pecorini and maybe even trying the Sirena's food. But avoid the pensione: it is expensive and you will not feel at home.

Expensive and unwelcoming

Every other year i sail to the eolie islands and the restaurant la sirena was a must ... However the quality of the food has been going down just as much that the prices have been going up ... Not only ....  the service is drammatic ... At 9 i was asked in a not polite  way to leave the table because they needed it ... 100e for 1 bottle of wine one antipasto 2 primi and 1 secondo .. No desert no coffee ... If you are already on the island try it but you need to get lucky ... If you are sailing around have a beer at the saloon and dine on the boat ...
