MASSERIA APRILE was the perfect home-base for our explorations of Puglia.  We had spent time in large cities earlier in our trip and were looking forward to the unique experience of staying in a Trullo on a Masseria in the countryside.  What a beautiful countryside it was - green grass and wildflowers, stone fences, vineyards, olive trees, stone buildings and trulli.  Every aspect of MASSERIA APRILE was thoughtfully and beautifully designed and cared for, respecting and preserving the history of the land, buildings, and family.  We enjoyed exploring the far edges of the property and all the common areas - and meeting the donkeys and chickens as we explored.  Each area told a story in items from the past that were displayed and signs that explained the history of certain buildings and areas.  Fabio and Stefania went out of their way to answer all our questions and to share stories of how certain buildings and structures had been used in the past.  It is obvious that the Aprile family has a deep love for this place and a desire to share the beautiful experience of this Masseria with others.  

As well as enjoying the amazing accommodations and the beauty of the property, we also very much appreciated the hospitality of the Aprile family.  The breakfasts at MASSERIA APRILE were among the best breakfasts we've ever had.  Fresh eggs, amazing cheeses from a neighbouring farm (buffalo mozzarella unlike any we had tried in our previous 2 weeks in Italy), a variety of homemade cakes made by Anna that we looked forward to every morning, a selection of meats, cut up fruits, cereals, wonderful breads and homemade jams and marmalade, tea, juices, and personally prepared cappuccinos.  Anna and Stefania even brought out a Nutella cake with a candle and sang Happy Birthday to my son on his birthday!  

The Aprile family were also very helpful hosts - recommending a place for us to get a quick pizza dinner when we arrived late at night and providing information and suggestions about what towns to visit and how much to try to fit into one day.  They were warm, kind and approachable.  

We easily visited many nearby towns including Locorotondo, Alberobello, Ostuni, Lecce, Martina Franca, Monopoli, Polignano a Mare, Trani and Bari.  

My son enjoyed jumping on the trampoline, seeing the donkeys, and walking into the forest to explore the playground area.  Fabio also shared a tip that his voice would echo if he stood right in the centre of the circular stone area in the front of the Masseria - it was wild.  

We very much appreciated the opportunity to spend time at MASSERIA APRILE and would highly recommend it to others planning to visit Puglia.  We just loved it!

Idyllic masseria

We just returned from an amazing 2 week trip of Italy. One of the areas we traveled to was the Puglia area. When searching for accommodations in that area, we were entranced by other reviews of Masseria Aprile, located in one of the white cities of Locorotondo. If you are traveling to that area, and you want an accommodation that is gorgeous countryside,  spacious, clean, with the most gracious and wonderful family hosts..than book now! My husband and I always try to stay in B and Bs, or smaller establishments with a personal interaction of the hosts, because that means the most to us on our visiting a country. Masseria Aprile was the epitome of our hopes. From the moment we pulled up, and interacted with Fabio, who presented me with a welcoming bouquet of yellow flowers, to our last morning when we were almost in tears saying goodbye to our matriarch hostesses Stefania and Anna Maria..our week stay was truly the best. Yes, the location was amazing..their property is beautiful..gardens, fields, donkeys, fresh, , and the surrounding area where I left their property to run on the country roads was lovely. Minutes to drive to the village of Locorotondo, park and walk the cobbled streets, eat at their yummy restaurants and even attend church at the cathedral. Also, the location was close to drive to the other “ white” cities, or Matera, Lecce and the coast.
But the main reason we truly loved being at Masseria Aprile was our morning breakfasts where we were able to interact with our host and hostesses. The selection and variety of their foods were made with such care and appreciation of their guests. Cakes, breads, fresh eggs, juices…it was such a feast and they went out of their way to converse and learn about us. I shared a picture of my grandaughter who loves to bake, and Anna shared her Foccia  bread recipe with me! We arrived as strangers, but we felt when we left, we were leaving very special friends behind.
Lastly, our room accommodations were stellar…we stayed in the “ Stalla” room which was part of the converted stables. Huge, perfect mattress, lots of room to spread out, quiet, gorgeous view when opening the door each morning, porch( which we didn’t use as the weather wasn’t cooperative), immaculate , heated floors and bathroom with plenty of hot water from the sink. 
We have stayed at some incredible establishments over the years, and Masseria Aprile is certainly one of our favorites. We are so grateful to Anna, Stefania and Fabio for making us feel so welcoming..my hope is if they ever come to our country, we could do the same. Many thanks..GRATZIE!

An amazing, welcoming piece of Italy paradise in Locorotondo!

Masseria Aprile has been in the Aprile family for 7 generations and the family pride makes this the BEST hidden gem in Puglia. Our rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated and the breakfasts were homemade by the owner. Fresh focaccia, tarts, cakes, jams, and breads greeted you along with cappuccino or the expresso of your choice. Highly recommend!

Excellent Puglia B+B

We stayed at Masseria Aprile for three nights and it was one of the best experiences we have ever had! The location is perfect for traveling in Puglia. The Truli we stayed in was spacious, well appointed with thoughtful touches to make our stay pleasant. The breakfast was wonderful fresh and generous. An additional bonus of the facility is their Honesty Bar. It was a lovely place to sit relax and enjoy visiting with guests. The owner arranged for takeout dinner to be delivered to us one evening.  We will definitely return when we visit Puglia in the future.

A Gem!

Do not make your visit for less than a week!  So quiet; picturesque, and peaceful.   The family is very welcoming; always seemed glad to see us every morning.  It is a working farm.   Grandmother makes fresh cakes and breads every morning.  Breakfast is something to  look forward to: fruits, vegetables, marmalades,  cheeses and meats. Beautiful foamy decaf cappuccinos.   Eat slow and savor.  The  large rooms have every detail you would need:   plenty of towels, and antiques placed to make the room feel special. We didn't find time to go to the "relax" garden, but did sit out in the lounge chairs in the morning sun by the chickens.  You will not want to leave!

It’s a family run masseria with gorgeous views of Locorotondo up on the hill , the olive trees growing behind the trulli which are beautifully renovated , no detail has been  spared . The family welcomes you the minute you arrive and makes you feel
so special . The breakfast is prepared with their own fresh eggs , delicious baked breads , cakes and fruit .. the breakfast room has a stunning view .. they have a lovely Honest Bar where you can find their own local wine , snacks and even make your own espresso . It’s by far the most enjoyable place we have ever stayed in …..
As a bonus , the family donkeys are happy to make new friends .

You won’t want to leave !

To describe our stay at the Masseria Aprile in a few words and  difficult, because it is such a beautiful location and what you perceive when you walk through that gate is not easy to describe... We were greeted by the amazing, very nice and very cordial Mrs. Anna the owner. Before arriving I had documented the history of the Masseria and everything had fascinated me but, it took only a few hours to make me fall in love with the place... Let's start from the location where the Masseria is located: at the foot of Locorotondo with a variety of the village shop, my husband and I have always walked to the center... a phone and a six-mile walk! Locorot and a wonderful walk! The Masseria Apellia has arrived a private place where the production of the farmhouse was started by the husband of Stefan and Anna Pollicia and the family were able to celebrate the day and the night because they have always been in the house, but I can't always find anything else to do, especially if I go to the kitchen with a large number of their owners!

Just wonderful and magical

Excellent stay. Great location on a family property who take great pride in their history and service. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Breakfast was exceptionally good with many of the offerings produced by the family on their farm. Stefania was an superb host and her mother, Anna, is a master baker of delicious cakes etc.

Absolutely amazing stay in Puglia (Locorotondo).

This was the highlight of our trip to Europe. The accomodation was perfect and spotlessly clean. The breakfast each morning was divine. Some of the best food we had during our stay in Italy was served at breakfast. The cakes, homemade cooked by Anna were such a treat but the focaccia was just incredible. 
The view to Locorotondo through the vineyards or the olive trees is just stunning. The location is perfect for visiting the beautiful villages of Puglia. This place was hard to leave.

Stefania made us feel at home straight away. They have a beautiful, peaceful location and the quality is second to none. 
We were in a quiet Trullo which was beautifully decorated with attention to detail that makes a huge difference. 
Breakfast was wonderful with fabulous local bread, cheese, salami and magnificent home made cakes - Anna-Maria, thank you for the lovely coffee and cakes each morning…… wish I could have taken one home ☺️
