Dirty rooms
Shower doors didn't close water all over.
Breakfast area dirty, no milk for cereal, fruit rotten, no plates/cups etc.
Locked in room, keys didn't work.

Terrible Hotel

We had a wonderful time!
The host is wonderful and our room was cosy clean and comfy! 
We had our own bathroom which was great, fresh towels and espresso in the morning.
The location is great for train, bus and restaurants, we would stay again!

Wonderful stay

Inadequate value for money.
Looking at the picture I was expecting more. Reserved bathroom outside in the corridor accidentally opened by another guest with his own key. During summertime, despite the temperature outside was confortable in the room was terribly hot without AC. 

Not satisfied. 

The B&B is very charming and is run by a great couple.  The staff is kind and will help you get oriented to the town.  They offered us maps, guidebooks, coffee, and other information to help us get more comfortable.  They prepare a nice breakfast each morning just a few blocks away.  We were very happy to have such a nice meal to start the day.  This B&B is a sure win for people looking for a nice relaxed place to stay with an easy to reach location.  Great for an quick trip over to Pisa while staying in a town with a more authentic feel!

Great stay

The B&B is a 10 minute walk from the train station and easy to find.

It is located a few steps from a GREAT gelato store, a bike rental store, restaurants a small grocery store, and some bars. A 10 minute walk to the bus station.

Good security, as you first need to enter the main door with a key, then the B & B itself with a key, and then the key to your room.

The room was clean, the bed was fine, plenty of space to hang clothes and a small writing table.

Breakfast was basic and very good.The cappuccino was excellent. 

Staff was friendly. Elizabeth is fantastic. She recommended a few restaurants and they were fantastic. 

Good WIFI signal.

There is a small washer and dryer for use. As i recall the cost was $5.00 euro.

I've  read that street noise is an issue for some. I can't disagree, as the widows are single pane and I could heard people talking late at night. But the distraction did not outweigh the benefits of the B & B itself. If you are not on a budget, this B & B may not be for you. For me, I'd rather spent my money on sights, food, beer and wine.

As far as Lucca itself, the town is WONDERFUL!

Close to the train, sights, shopping, restaurants, cost won't break the bank

I was looking forward to discovering Lucca and having a pleasant stay at Le Violette. The B&B is well positioned within the city, honestly priced and staff were friendly over the phone. Unfortunately initial good impressions did not last beyond midnight. 

Problems began as soon as my family and I attempted to fall asleep at 11pm on a Friday night. The B&B is located near a lively pedestrian street lined with several bars one of which features an outdoor DJ who plays loud electronic pop hits until 1am. When he eventually finished his set we were relieved but vibrant crowds gathered below did not dissipate until several hours later and the lack of soundproof windows made sleep impossible. After the cacophony of drunk conversation did finally end it wasn't long before street cleaners arrived to sweep bottles and refuse away. 

A phone call to management in an attempt to swap rooms went unanswered and when the matter was discussed the following morning a semi-apologetic manager did not entirely agree that a silent night's sleep should be expected at her establishment or that she should warn guests of the sonic impediment we had endured.

Le Violette is perfect if you plan on partying in Lucca and want to go to bed at 3am. Otherwise (especially if traveling with children) I would search for accommodation in a quieter part of the city. As for the B&B I would highly recommend they invest in sound proofing in rooms facing the street (1 and 2 on the second floor) or at the very least warn clients they are unlikely to get any sleep if they stay here from June to September.

Note: I found this B&B on google maps and did not take the time to properly vet it on trip advisor (several travelers mention street noise and difficulty sleeping).

Don't Expect a Good Night's Sleep

Great location inside the city walls. Close to the train station, and the bus station is not far away either. The owner, Elisabeth, is from Boston so she is easy to communicate with. Lucca is a wonderful city and this is a great base from which to see it. Because it is inside the walls, it can be a bit noisy if events are going on.

Elisabeth was a treat!
