Hotel Astoria

Here now. Very homely, relaxed hotel. It’s a 10 minute bus trip out from Malcesine centre, and there’s no night life around it, so you won’t be strolling out on the town. However we were happy to sit out and look at the fab views over the lake. Uber wanted 20 euros for a ride into town. We stayed in the hotel bar. People are lovely, we tried to get a lake view and failed, our room 120 looked over the hills and Mountains, so it was ok. You see plenty of the lake during the day and sitting out at night, give it’s right on the waters edge.We weren’t sure where people went at night, only a smattering were in the hotel bar. It’s not a young hotel, patron wise, and very few families with bairns, this week, anyway. Food is fine, we were half board. You choose your dinner the night before so it’s a surprise every night cos who can remember what you’ve chosen? Google maps gives you the times of the buses. 484 runs every hour right outside the hotel. We got that( 4 euros) upto Riva, lots of traffic so it was slow and that was wonderful given the views. We got the boat back, 10 euros to Malcesine and the view was wonderful too. There’s a local tourist bus too, though it doesn’t go past Malcesnie or much past the hotel. Gets delayed lots but it turns up. Market on a Saturday like every market good for a hours stoat round. There was a fantastic Thursday night on the beach set up by a company called Fiesta de Campagnola. Food a bar live band and fireworks, all free. We bought raffle tickets and were disappointed not to win the washing machine We are with Jet 2, and they do look after you, lots of suggestions on what to do, not just their excursions, local stuff too. I’d recommend staying here
