The structure is not easy to find, but this too is part of the package. Isolated, immersed in the Tuscan countryside.

A romantic weekend.

I returned to Fornacina after years of absence and found with pleasure the same country atmosphere and a little dreamy that distinguishes it. The cottage is immersed in the countryside near Saturnalia, to reach it you walk a dirt road between the marshy hills. Upon your arrival you are greeted by a beautiful large, very well-groomed garden; the structure has a swimming pool and corner equipped for barbecue, it is ideal for spending the days relaxed outdoors. The rooms are not luxurious but furnished in the spirit of the cottage and with Mediterranean property.

What a disappointment!A seemingly charming, colorful almost esoteric, very green even if everything is neglected.Then you look around and realize that more than country is a bunch of old and rotten stuff, flea market (with all the flea).Choosing the country does not mean being willing to stay in the SUDICIO!!cleaning and hygiene are essential conditions in any structure to the public!campaign does not mean that it can leave the hair etc. of the people who came first together with dust, mold, stained cloths etc.

I'm sorry about the country.

If you want the comforts and conveniences of always it is not for you. The structure is born to make a difference. And the difference is nature, the animals of Mrs. Layla, the colors and breakfast made exclusively with natural products. The house is immersed in nature and for the last 2 km the road is white but comfortable. The country style and a little nature of the structure is to be understood. Mrs. Layla is a woman who alone leads the Fornacina Country House and should be appreciated for this too. Good vacation.

Welcome, warmth, colours and scents...we felt at home. And what a home! It reveals love and passion and care...what do you want it to be a little dust?! Go ahead...Mrs. Layla will be there waiting for you with her smile.

I spent 6 nights at La Fornacina Country House with my 13yo daughter, end of June/beginning of July.  We were fortunate to have 1 room on the main floor. The overall experience was amazing and I have to applaud Layla, our wonderful hostess/owner.  She went out of her way to show us towns, treat us like family and make our stay extremely welcoming.  I swam daily in the pool which was a treat for me.  Having a car is a MUST as the location of this country house is quite a distance from the surrounding towns.  Being close to the thermal baths was a big bonus and we took advantage and went daily!  A great place for family reunions or a romantic interlude for a week hidden away in a location that is not overwhelmed by tourists.

A very unique, lovely experience

The garden and its various places to relax are simply charming even if the furniture is starting to age. Besides Layla and Marcello are two people to meet, just talk to them. In addition to the discussions, Marcello does excellent massages.

A place that does good!

I spent a week at the house this summer (2014), together with my family, parents and siblings with kids and spouses, all in all 15 people. It is an old house, with all those litte features that old houses tend to display, some creaky stairs, a few cracks in the floor tiles and some other things that you wont find in a modern hotel. It's a very peacful and secluded place, with a distinct feeling of the beautiful Tuscan countryside and that was just what we were after. It is not the place to go if you expect luxurious hotel standards, state of the art technology and close proximity to the Mediterranean and/or a major city, but again, that was not what we were looking for.

The owner of the house, Layla, who lives in a smaller house on the property, was very nice and service-minded and helped us out with recommendations on excursions in the area and to Rome, as well as where we could get a bite to eat. On the day of our arrival, we got lost and very late due to some poor navigation (never completely trust in GPS, it won't always tell you if a road is closed) and got there in the middle of the night. I don't know how she did it, but she managed to get someone to bake and deliver pizzas to the house right there and then, which is very impressive considering that the house is nowhere near a major town or city. Since we'd been driving for three days through Europe, that alone was a real life-saver.

Expect a somewhat rustic country house with a feeling of the real Tuscan countryside and you will get exactly what you want, as we did. Expect a top-modern hotel with all the luxuries of an all-inclusive major resort and you will be disappointed. For a large family looking to spend some time together during our holiday, it was just perfect. The kids were playing in the pool all day and could be easily watched, we went on some excursions to the sea, to Rome and to other sights in the area, but mainly we just relaxed in the beautiful environment.

I noticed some poor reviews for the house here on the site and just have to say that our experience was completely different. But then again, we knew what we were looking for.

I'll give the house a 4 out of 5. Can't give it a 5 since there were a couple of things that I had wished for, like better wi-fi coverage in my bedroom or a supermarket or a pub within walking distance, but that was not something that I really expected.

We'd definitely consider going back there again in the future!

A very nice place for families

I planned for this trip several months in advance and I did plenty of research before choosing this house, by the way I'm Italian living in the US now for a few years. I travel a lot around the world for business, so I'm not new to this. What the photos and video shows on their website is not even close to what we got as we arrived to "la Fornacina". I know about spiders, insects, wild animals, etc, etc, because I live in a rural area in Texas, so we know about huge insects and spiders, (please, everything is BIG in Texas) but one thing is nature and the other is filth. There is no reason not to take good care of the inside and outside of the property and offer what you are preaching in your website and other travel sites. My family owns a "cascina" in the north of Italy (farm house) and the last time it was remodeled was at least 15 years ago, and is 10,000 times in better conditions of this "country" house. 
They charge you 100 euros for cleaning and I don't really know what they do with those 100 euros, but cleaning is the last thing they do.
Even the patio which is the most beautiful asset of this house is not taken care of. You really only need a blower and a mower to keep the premises clean. 
Room and furniture extremely outdated and in conditions that you could not even give it away to the salvation army, No AC, no TV, no ventilators in good condition, bad WiFi, cats that want to come inside the house, so you have to keep the doors closed, all of them; dogs roaming around and one of them not friendly at all so you have to be on the look out when you are outdoors. Shower curtains broken and full of mold; shower heads broken so you have to hold it in your hand to take a shower. Toilets you need to pump to flush it; toilets inside the shower (first time in my life I see something like this, and I've been in pretty weird places). 
In conclusion un vero disastro (a disaster). I could go hours talking about this experience, but I really just want to warn you if you are considering this place for your next vacations. If you're looking for an adventure and excitement and you are coming from the city, this might be the place for you' but rest assure this is far from been a "villa", "villetta", "country house" or even "cascina". Consider it like going on camping!!
I personally feel robbed and ingannato!!! (cheated)!!
