B&B Bagni di Sole exceeded my expectations in every way.  It is the perfect location from which to explore Matera, the Sassi, and the Murgia by foot, and a wonderful homebase from which to explore the surrounding region by car.  The place is exceptionally clean, neat, and tastefully decorated.  The rooms are comfortable and clean, as are the bathrooms.  Tommaso and his family really made us feel at home and created such a warm, friendly atmosphere that we could have just hung out at the B & B with them all day.  They were very accommodating, professional, and knowledgeable, and offered great suggestions for dining and exploring.  The breakfast was outstanding.  I would definitely stay there again.  Highly reccommended.

Amazing experience

Nice place to stay near to the "Sassi" of Matera. The b&b is located in a green area but very close to the city center (5 minutes away walking). The rooms are clean and confortable. The breakfast is rich and tasty: the best is "focaccia" a sort of pizza with tomato and olives on. 

A lovely place

The people I met at "Bagni di Sole" were so warm-hearted and welcoming that I immediately felt at home. The receptionist, Gigi, is a very down-to-earth person, genuinely friendly, and always ready to help his guests. I really enjoyed the company of his friends who came by in the evening to introduce me to some Materan folk music. Also, Armando, the owner of the B&B, is a lovely person who enjoyes talking to his guests and sharing his knowledge about Matera.

The place was always tidy and clean; the room I stayed in was beautifully furnished and clean as well - compliments to cleaning woman! The location was perfect for me because you are very close to the centre and the Sassi, yet you can enjoy the breeze of the coutryside ;)

In short, I very much enjoyed my stay in Matera and I would definitely recommend staying at "Bagni di Sole", and if I get the change I will surely come back some time!

My Italian Home!

I had a wonderful stay in bagni di Sole. My room was very comfortable and the toilet was very clean. Breakfast was superb! with free range eggs, matera bread, fruit, cereal and much more! 
I felt welcomed the moment I arrived and will definitely stay here again if I visit beautiful matera in the future. I will recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy the peaceful setting of this relaxing porperty. Many thanks!

wonderful experience!

I have been all around Italy and Bagni di Sole was the most beautiful and welcoming place I stayed in by far. It is a short walk to the Sassi of Matera, but on a gentle hill so no strain going down or up! To be honest, I wasn't expecting the city to be so quaint and beautiful. It is very rare to have expectations exceeded when travelling, but Matera and Bagni di Sole will exceed your expectations for sure! 

(I recommend when you get into the town, turn right on the main road and walk to the church. From there you will see a view that you wont want to tear your eyes away from, especially by night!)

The hospitality of the people working at Bagni di Sole is what makes the place special and unlike any other. As other reviewers have said, one immediately feels like a long-lost friend or family member upon arriving at the B&B. I stayed for a week at the B&B and it was not unusual to meet lovely locals and hear them playing music together or to be invited out with them. I was so comfortable at this home-away-from-home, that I didn't want to leave. But I will be back again before the year is out!

Due to a very recent change in management (although the owner is the same), I am not sure if my experience will be typical for future visitors, but I know guests will love the location, breathtaking view, modern furnishings and beautiful rooms regardless. And you will surely be helped by staff with the best way to enjoy the magical town of Matera while you're there.
