Montecatini is a gorgeous little town. Hotel is old but everything is working nicely. Rooms are huge, view is incredible. Breakfast is just ok. Nothing is fancy or luxury but believe me it has history and soul.

Incredible Town

This is a very old hotel. It has a very cozy lobby with rugs and nice chairs etc. but that's all. No working hair drier two days in a row. Some of our friend's have found broken hair driers in their rooms too...  Not working bath room door is a bonus. Other than these problems, reception area managers  and breakfest room workers were very friendly.

My initial reaction was to rate this hotel terrible as I would not return there for free! But the one saving grace was that the bedding and towels were clean. Our room was dreadful with the most disgusting stained carpet. Dust was thick on the top of picture frames and the bathroom only had one small dingy light over the mirror, I did complain but was dismissed  and told "what do you expect its a very old hotel". Friends who we traveled with had a much better room, not wonderful, but far more acceptable, They at least had a headboard and the carpet not as stained. Not a good experience and to be rated a four staff........unbelievable!

Not Recommended!

This is soo bad it is embarassing. Rooms look as if they have not changed since WWII. Breakfast is poor even to Italian standards. The only positive is staff, who are polite and efficient. I was there on bussiness, hopefully I will not have to return...

How did it get 4*???

I could not believe  how abominable this hotel would be. It was advertised as a four star hotel but I would not even give it one star in my wildest dreams!! I have travelled extensively in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and in Italy and I can truthfully say that I have never before experienced such an appalling hotel. The entire hotel was totally depressing in appearance, apart from the  lobby, which did actually look quite pleasant.
As we made our way up to our rooms I was completely appalled to see that the carpets in the corridors were faded and dirty.  Our room carpet was full of stains, and the wardrobe looked as though the outside of the doors had not been cleaned properly. The friends we were travelling with had to change their room three times before they found a satisfactory room. Their first room had a disgusting smell in the wardrobe and their second room had a bed which was sagging when they lay on it.
Our room did at least have a good bed  with spotless bedding, however the bathroom was very dingy. The toilet seat was wobbly, the tiles were very dated, the lino had several black marks on it and the whole appearance was very dated and dingy.
Our bedroom carpet was stained, and the balcony looked as though it had not been cleaned for months!! The floor was dirty, the cloth on the table was faded and covered with burn holes from cigarettes. Decorative panels at either side were thick with dust, so could not have been cleaned for a long time.  There should have been a hairdryer in our room, but I had to ask for one.
Breakfast was unbelievably mediocre. The food on offer was cheap and nasty- poor quality ham, one cheese only, a few tomatoes, juice that was obviously squash, not fresh, no eggs, cheap sachets of jam, and  tinned fruit. There were no dessert spoons for the cereal, indeed there was only one teaspoon per person, so I had to wipe my spoon with a serviette  after savoury food so that I could eat a croissant or piece of cake. The juice was served in cheap plastic cups, no sign of any glasses! We had to boil a kettle for tea, which meant huge delays as only a few people  at a time could make a hot drink. One day there was  a problem with the kettle, which was sparking at the wall!!! On another  day I tried  to get a cup of coffee at ten am, only to be told that the espresso machine was broken! The towels were replaced regularly and were clean, as they were sent out to a laundry, but I was given a towel with  a big hole in it one day. The  bar in the lobby was very poorly stocked, and the only barman was runoff his feet.  The bar toilets were in the basement, and were so badly lit that they   were a total health hazard!! This was my experience, and the rest of ur party had very similar tales to tell!! 
I  have never ever been so appalled in my entire life by such a disgusting hotel!!!!!
DO NOT GO THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
