So imagine 7 couples in a new exciting country, sharing a 7 room villa in a sleepy little Italian village for 2 weeks. 
Finding just the right restaurant for a shared meal is not all that easy. We found a likely prospect near our villa, La Locanda del Vino Nobile. But, because of a fairly busy committed schedule of planned activities, our only possible date was a Monday. La Locanda del Vino Nobile is closed on Mondays. We called and yes they would be happy to open for us alone. 
The day arrives and we are very hungry after a day's touring. 14 different views on a dinner meal.
Boy did they hit a home run. A broadly varied menu of standard Italian fare and Etruscan classics. 
Exquisitely prepared! 
One of our group had the snails, a couple more the mixed grill (sausage, pork tenderloin, bacon, and a rib) and various wonderful Italian pastas. 
I can't help with a single recommendation; suffice to say you can find what you want on this menu and it will be wonderful. 
Oh did I mention the wine; the chef has his own wine label.  Fabulous dinner wines. 
Go there! Enjoy the food, enjoy the wine and soon you will be writing 5 star ratings for  La Locanda del Vino Nobile in Sant Albino.

We went to La Locanda del Vino Nobile for dinner. The restaurant ambiance and light are the perfect match to the delicious freshly made local dinner & Noble Wine selection.  Be prepared to enjoy delicious meal courses in a delightful & relaxed slow pace, the true Italian way!
We were so lucky to ask for & able to reserve cooking lessons with the Chef, we had the great opportunity to spend 4 hours on his restaurant, learning by doing - making pasta, pasta sauces, braised pork & potatoes, and the fabulous Tiramisu dessert from scratch!  The experience was generously paired with Prosecco, Red & White Vino Nobile. We had the privilege to have the restaurant to ourselves, lunch was served out of our own prepared food, then perfectly sealed with espresso. We are grateful that Rosario was a very good, respectful and patient teacher. 
We would go back without hesitation!!!

Fantastic restaurant experience & cooking lessons

I stayed at the La Locanda del Vino Nobile in August 2012 while on a road trip by myself through Italy. I found the owners were very friendly and helpful. There warm and friendly atmoshpere was like being in a family home with a wonderful kitchen. My room was beautifulIy decorated with lovely linens. There were even rose petals strewn across the bed. I had an unforgetable evening eating a delicious four course meal with a great bottle of wine. There is also a public swimming pool across the street in a beautiful park setting with views of the surrounding Tuscan hills.

One of the nicest places in Italy.

We have been in August with family. The Hotel is very nice, pure Tuscany atmosphere, pirce affordable.
The restaurant is not very cheap, but the quality is very good. Deserves a visit. IDshes are those of Tuscany tradition and some good idea.

NIce hotel, good restaurant

We chose this hotel because all affordable hotels in Montepulciano were already booked out. It's located in Sant'Albino which is 5-10 minutes driving away from Montepulciano. The town itself doesn't provide a lot, there's a Spar and actually a very good pizzeria just 500m down the road. Other than that you're pretty stuck there. The owner is very nice and makes his own wine which he also sells. Actually very nice and not expensive at all, certainly worth a try. Even though the hotel looks a bit run-down from the outside, the rooms were clean and the beds comfortable. It is somewhat basic in terms of furniture and some of the furniture doesn't seem to fit together (style-wise). Breakfast is included and ok.
