This masseria is family-run, meaning it's extremely local and low-key, which is exactly what we wanted. This also means they pay extra attention to cleanliness, quality and service. Ferdinando and Giulia are wonderful hosts who fill you up with stories and suggestions of must-do's and must-see's. You can really see that they care about getting to know you and making sure you not only have a comfortable stay (one salient example: they ensure the AC fans are pointed away from the beds before you arrive so you can sleep without freezing or getting sick) but also make the most of it.

The breakfast (which is sweet, not savory) is simple and absolutely delicious. All of it is baked by Giulia herself. Make sure to try her famous, handmade pasticciotto! It's really one of a kind. What we loved most about the breakfast was the company of the hosts and the many laughs that we shared. Also Hugo, their very aged dog, who sits beside you waiting for some breadcrumbs and caresses. He is the guardian of the lot, and one of the first in the masseria family to welcome you in the morning.

The rooms (with parking just outside) are clean, spacious and disinfected every day to counter the covid pandemic. They are essential, private and have some nice, well-kept patio spaces. The family is also very conscientious about saving energy; they make sure to encourage their guests to adopt green, sustainable practices when it comes to the various services in their rooms such as AC, water and lights. Furthermore, the shared courtyard is grand. With all of its various plants and rustic decorations, it resembles a wild, secret garden. It basically is and feels like your home away from home. They have a restaurant service too, offering dinner with local produce cooked by Matteo, their chef and son.

The location of the masseria is also very strategic, close to a highway and (about 20 to 30 mins away from) so many key attractions, towns, bays and beaches. (Note: our car GPS led us into town instead of the masseria itself, which is just outside in the country-side. Use Google Maps instead).

We were well and truly looked after at Masseria Lacco: comfortable and airy room, patio to relax on, olive groves to stroll through, and such wonderful hospitality from Giulia and Ferdinando. And then there was the food: delicious breakfasts - just right for the English! - and we were fortunate to have booked half board and so were able to enjoy wonderful Puglian specialities at dinner, prepared by Matteo, our hosts' chef son.

Wonderful peaceful masseria(agriturismo) just outside Muro Leccesse, 30 minutes south of Lecce. Secure parking. Julia and Frederico are wonderful hosts and kept checking to confirm that our needs were met. Very clean, modest rooms. Private. Refrigerator and good A/C. We had dinner there each night. Excellent home cooked food. We didn't want to drive the country roads in the dark.It woud have been a challenge. Appetizers were incredible. All homemade, and many marinated vegetables and seafood treats. We enjoyed everything. If you are on a budget, check what might be the surcharge for the special seafood dinner. We had wonderful mussels, gamberoni(shrimp), and orado. Wifi didn't work well in the room due to the thick walls, Fine wifi on the porch.

Accommodation on the farm  which was reconstructed for the stay very stylishly and carefully according to the age of the farm – (16th century), calm atmosphere among olive trees, clean rooms ( cleaning the rooms and changing the towels every day, heating, air conditioning – cooling in summer, heating in colder days) perfect breakfasts, dinners  at will, very helpful and nice owners. Not far from Otranto by the Adriatic Sea.

Not the place if you are looking for luxury. On the other hand, if you are looking for a real taste of the region and friendly hospitality, that is the place. Close to both Lecce and Otranto, the Masseria commanded by Ferdinando and his lovely wife offer all the necessary itens for a nice stay. The food, in the capable hands of their son, is absolutely great!

Taste of local experience

we spent there just 2days but it was sufficient time to realise how pleasant the two old men who take care of it were. Always asking if everything was okey and helping us giving useful information about the sourroundings. They even gave us cookies our last day. Apart from that, the first night we were offered having dinner there and we accepted with dought but certainly we had  fantastic typical dishes from salento and italy, and we ended up full of food. The rooms are okey but and it is well localizated.

advisable: nice food and friendly people

My sisters and I had a wonderful time at Masseria Lacco. We arrived late in the afternoon, very hungry, after a stormy ferry ride from Dubrovnik. We were told that restaurants and markets were closed from 1-5, but our hostess made us a wonderful lunch consisting of their home grown tomatoes in (the best) olive oil, freshly made bread, and homemade ricotta. We all thought we had died and gone to heaven. We had dinner both nights of our stay. Unbelievable! The owner's son is a wonderful chef and they use the vegetables they grow and their own homemade products. One of the best meals I have ever had. Our room was lovely and it was nice taking a walk around the facilities (through groves of olive trees, etc.). The location is great. You can visits many wonderful small Italian villages along the Adriatic. The owners are super nice and will help you with suggestions of things to see and directions and maps. Highly recommend!
