We chose Villa Monteporzano for a short stay as part of a longer trip.  We stayed in a Junior Suite, specifically the one with a small brocade sofa next to the bed.  The property is generally lovely and the room was spacious, but a few things keep us from a full 5 stars.
- The views from the grounds & pool are beautiful - that straight shot to the cathedral! - but the pool itself had a lot of leaves/debris floating around.  Probably an uphill battle given all the olive trees!  Loungers were comfortable.  Pool water was pretty cold even in late afternoon, despite it being hot and sunny early September days.
- The wifi was not reliable.  1 bar of reception max came and went in the room.  
- The shower was so small that you could barely wash your hair without banging your elbows - we're familiar and ok with tight European quarters but this was small by even those standards!  Only shower gel was provided, not soap, shampoo, or conditioner.
- Front desk was friendly and helpful when attended but there wasn't always someone around.  When we needed to get a taxi to the train station on departure it was lucky we already had the # of our driver from the previous evening, or we would have been scrambling.  FYI plan on around 20E each way for a trip up to Orvieto or the station.

Lovely property, some room for improvement

Just book it. This place is very special in Umbria with a view of - and easy access to - the beautiful town of Orvieto. A restored farm villa with olive trees and a pool-side view of the Duomo. The general manager is on hand to make sure you have breakfast in the morning with fresh pastry and to make sure you have cocktails in the afternoon. Apartments are recently redone and wonderful. The whole stay was exceptional! Only regret is that we didn’t book for more time… But we will return and recommend.

Superlative Stay in Orvieto/Umbria

We stayed in apartment Rosa. One couple and one single. the apartment was spacious, clean, had a well equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, and a lovely terrace overlooking Orvieto. Giulio was relaxed but always ready to help. The pool was beautiful with a view of the Orvieto cathedral. We just had an umbrella with our name written oma blackboard. No rules! Self catering very possible. Giulio gave good advice about where to go and where to eat at authentic trattorie. We loved it

Beautiful relaxed Umbrian villa

Amazing stay and Giulio was so helpful and kind. He  was a wonderful host and made sure that we had everything we needed. Our villa was large and comfortable and our location was great for exploring the surrounding area. We had a car and there was free parking. The views from the grounds were beautiful and we also enjoyed a lovely day by the pool.

Lovely

We spent two days in a simple but comfortable and very large apartment. The kindness of the owner made us feel at home. The breakfast brought to the apartment is excellent and the swimming pool overlooks the Duomo of Orvieto. From the villa you can reach Orvieto in a few minutes.

Charming place.

The location and the view are good, but only that...apartments are very badly kept, the shower is very dirty, it's better not to open the washing machine for the smell, the equipment is scarce...we had to ask for a towel for bidet (isn't planned???).

It looked like love, but it was a carriage.

We arrived and the place looked very promising. Beautiful swimming-pool and lounge area. We had our own allocated space due to Corona, very nice. Apartment looked okay. We spend some time in the pool with our kids until other guest told us our kids had to be quiet! They were not allowed to play or make any noise, and they even complained to our host. Another family with kids were even told by the host they had to keep their kids quiet. Pity for the very friendly host he had to deal with two extremes. We were not comfortable with this. Also, after closer inspection and sleeping 1 night it was clear the apartment was in extreme need of renovation, and so were the sun beds. Our private terrace with a lounge set was very nice. We still decided to leave, we did not feel comfortable.
Thanks gulio for welcoming us so kindly, but important it is clear to all guest whether this is a kid-friendly agriturismo, or not!

Very disappointing! 

Villa Monteporzano offers apartments complete with everything, obtained within a beautiful historic country house. The house has been renovated I believe for some years keeping the rural aspect intact. It has a beautiful olive grove with swimming pool and view of the Duomo of Orvieto. It is a place of peace and tranquility.

What a lovely villa.

We booked the Villa last minute and it was a dream!! The location is amazing- a perfect view of Orvieto on the hill. Surrounded by an olive grove with another villa next door from the 1800s that can also be rented out. The house was charming and perfect.

Amazing property!

Spacious family home with kids and also equipped with all the amenities (ovens, dishwashers, dishwashers, kitchen utensils). Beautiful views of Orvieto and Duomo.
