I highly recommend to stay at Grand Hotel Esperia for a romantic getaway on the Coast of the Gods. We were thrilled with the double room we stayed which was really huge and very comfortable, the aspect that most impressed us was the big sea view terrace, where we use to dine, with a breathtaking view of the coast. The friendliness of the staff is also noteworthy. Can't wait to come back to Pizzo!

Pleasant weekend spent on the Coast of the Gods

This hotel is family run clean no frills hotel.
The pool is very adequate for families and couples alike. There are two huge dining rooms due to the demand for weddings and birthday parties. The garden hidden from any roads or pollution is attended owners and grows such array of fresh produce in order to have the finest ingredients on his table from fresh figs, peppers,melons bananas,fresh herbs and his olive oil, to go!
The food is superb and local dishes produced to represent the area.
There are rooms with sea view as the beach is so near and children friendly and 20 minutes from the main town of Pizzo.
I walked many times there and back it's up hill most of the way not for the faint hearted as there are no public foot paths.
You can order a taxi which is very reasonable or three wheeler "toot"

I stayed in at night mist of the time as there was music at night to dance too!
Plus plenty of parties during the celebrations of a fiesta on 15th August where the wonderful food and fireworks were amazing !
Travel to lemenzia airport then the  the hotel can arrange a taxi for you enjoy all

Party time

I have just returned from a trip with friends to Southern Italy and we stayed at this hotel.

My two friends have been there before, but I had not.   I can’t stress enough how lovely the owners are, they can’t do enough for you even though I speak no Italian (aided where necessary by our companion who could).  The best asset by far of this hotel is the food,  homegrown right there and cooked with attention and an abundance of taste it was plentiful, healthy and inspirational.  Rocco has his own olive oil too which was to die for.   One evening we went to a very good local fish restaurant, but if (when!) I return I would eat at the hotel every day!  

The hotel would be ideal to visit with a number of families or friends, an ideal place for a wedding reception.

The hotel itself sits on a hill overlooking Pizzo, and so to get into the town it would be advisable to have a car.  A five minute walk towards the beach however brings you to the Piedigrotta Church, a church carved into the hillside in the 1800s, full of scenes and statues, truly beautiful and it must be seen.  The beautiful shoreline is close by, or you are a short drive from plentiful  sandy beaches.

The quaint historical town has its own marina, overlooked by the winding Italian streets and the main square with its alfresco cafes, all selling the amazing Italian ice cream Tartufo.

The airport is served by Ryanair and is just 15/ 20 minutes drive, I would imagine this location will be “discovered” very soon so go now to experience the true Italy and the true Italian hospitality and make the same friends I have!

True Italian hospitality

Spent one night at the hotel. Yes, it was November, not high season, the hotel was nearly empty yet open.
There was limited amount of hot water, we had problems in opening the room (no battery), there was actually no breakfast, only coffee and heated croissants. In spite it  all that they charged 100 euros. 
Perhaps in season they are better. I wouldn't try.

Try another hotel

My wife and I recently stayed at this hotel for two relaxing weeks and had the best time soaking up the area of Calabria.  We found the owner Rocco to be the most friendly and entertaining hotelier from our experience of travelling the world.  The food was absolutely first class, due to the fact that most of the ingredients came freshly picked from the owner's garden. The fish dishes were always freshly caught and prepared to our own specification. The room we stayed in was spacious and clean with a fantastic seaview, where at sunset we could sit out on the balcony and see as far out as the famous volcano in the area, Stromboli. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Taste of Italy.

For my experience I highly recommend the Esperia Hotel. I couldn't fault it. The food is out of this world and everything you eat is fresh, including all the fruit and vegetables which are grown in its surrounded private property. The beach is only a stone throw away.

The swimming pool is amazingly big and always spotless. My room had a great sea view along with a beautiful olive tree and flowers spraying over the balcony. The room was very spacious and clean. The owners always welcome you with open arms.
