Spent 7 days at Fonte Martino. Absolutely Beautiful!  Breathtaking views! The grounds are manicured to perfection. Elegant suites that are kept spotless. Delicious breakfast every morning. Toby & David are excellent Host! A 10 out of 10!

Absolutely Beautiful! Picture Perfect!

Some years ago I had to look for a place near Pomarance for the father in law and his friends of my daughter. She had decided to have her wedding on our farm in Tuscany, near the Etruscan city of Volterra.
Fonte San Martino was the perfect place where her father in law being English and used to places with some privacy and luxury could enjoy the hours before and after the wedding with his friends. Relax there and have the full service you get in this small Agriturismo, in walking distance of Pomarance.
Now I have been there again, looking for some other family-member, who wanted to come to Tuscany. And the place is just as perfect as it has been. The couple who ownes the place and takes care do the utmost that their guests feel at home and can enjoy some relaxing hours, after exploring what there is on cultural and historical sites in this part of Tuscany.

Very cosy and personal place to enjoy Tuscany

This was a first trial of this kind of spending our Vacation (renting a big house for ourselves in an isolated area) - but we are definitely making it a tradition going forward. 
The time spent in Pomarance was exceptionally relaxing, refreshing. The breathtaking view from the windows or from the Pool area, the friendly, shady porch which is perfect for having your lunch or for an evening poker game, the kindness of the Owners are all resulted in the fact that WE WILL RETURN SOON!

It was quite hard to find the place itself (Via Volterrana 31) but finally we called the Owners and they kindly came and ascented us to the place.
It is perfectly isolated from any other plots, still you can get into the city in 2 minutes by car or even by walking. Fresh drivers will probably get a heart attack by the Road getting to the accomodation and back to the Village but by the 3rd time it is a walk in the park... :)
Fabio and Pinuccia are the Owners, who live in the same plot but separated from the Guests. During the past years they developed that sense of finding the perfect balance between being present (sharing useful informations, available when needed) and being away and don't disturb the guests.
By accident, my Birthday was exactly at the day of our arrival. We did not tell but they found it out from my ID, and the next thing happened they showed up at our doors and brought me a bottle from Fabio's own produced wines. 
The building is amazing if you like this architecture style (I do apparently :), the rooms are big a cosy, the most important thing: the beds are excellent. 
The climate is very interesting in a positive way: Although we had up to 34-35 degrees during daytime, starting 8p.m. the air gets cold enough for not needing Air condition in the rooms. You just get to get an anti-mosquito device and you can sleep with open windows in perfect fresh air. 
The pool area is also very neat. Big enough, long enough, deep enough to really enjoy it. Having a small shady porch to escape from the sun if needed and to have some cocktails or reading a good book. 
Kids (6,8,12) loved it from the first moment until the day of saying Good Bye. 
The little Tuscan town Volterra (known from the famous saga: Twilight) is 19km away (approx 35 mins). Pomarance itself is also a quiet, lovely little town (village?) - at the time when we were, they had a Local Festival with streetfood, merchants, etc.
Couple great attractions relatively near to the house, obviously by Car.
House, rooms are clean, all amenities you would need are there, Wifi is with acceptable speed. For a cost of 1100EUR For 5 of us - quite a good deal!

Time and Money (very) well spent

... and heaven in a wild flower,
to hold infinity in the palm of your hand,

This famous poem of William Blake describes perfectly our feelings when my fiance and I were standing at the Agriturismo at one night enjoying the dance of the fireflies ("lucciole") over the field.

Together with we have spent a total of 6 nights at the Agriturismo Fonte Martino. The total silence we found at Fonte Martino which is embedded in the beautiful tuscan landscape was the perfect antidote to our busy city lifes. Our hosts Pinuccia and Fabio were most forthcoming and tried everything to create a pleasurable recreational experience (and I must admit that they did succeed ;) ). They also have three cats and a very sweet dog named Lili which I took a special liking for. It should be noted that the dog was superbly trained and would stay away from guests and also only obey commands from its masters - much to my dismay. If you are ever going to the tuscan region and looking for a great basis for daily expeditions into the famous tuscan villages and also are looking forward for some recreational downtime than this is definitely the place to be.

To see the world in a grain of sand ...

We had a very nice few days at Fonte Martino. The location is superb, and Pinuccia and Fabio are very welcoming hosts. The bedroom is simple and relaxing, and the swimming pool has a wonderful view. Pomarance itself is not very touristy, but still cute, and has a great ice cream shop! I definitely would recommend staying there!

A welcoming and quaint agriturismo

Fonte Martino is a beautiful place surrounded by the picturesque hills of the Tuscany and the vineyards. The house is decorated with the nice details of the Tuscany style and has a wonderful swimming pool, from which you can appreciate the fantastic view. Breakfast is a nice combination of Tuscanian bread, marmalades, ham and cheese, yoghurts and fresh fruits collected from the farm. It's located very close to cities of high interest, such as Siena and Volterra. But more important is the endless kindness of the hostess, Fabio and Pinuccia, who make you feel as a part of their extended family. This why we keep continuing coming to this amazing place! And this time with our two year old son, who also enjoyed the large pool and played around the park. So if you're looking for peace, nature and friendliness, Fonte Martino is the place to visit, you won't regret it!
