This review is for my stay on 16 & 17 March 2017. My room was room 1 and the design and layout were good! I was greeted by a cheerful man who helped me with my luggage. The man and lady were very approachable and friendly throughout my stay and were responsive to whatsapp messages. The location is very central in Cinque Terre. I would definitely choose to stay in this hotel when I travel to Cinque Terre in future. The only downside for Room 1 is that there is no attached toilet, but I am okay with it.

Good Location and Friendly Hosts

Location: great! Not long from The train station. 
Service: great! Welcomed by a cheerful man whom helped us with our bags, gave helpful tips and information. 
Standard: not so great. Air condition was working and the towels and sheets were clean, but that’s it. This is not the most expensive place in Riomaggiore, but still, the toilet was brown, and the shower as well (and mouldy!). It felt, looked and was dirty. 
All in all, a ok place to stay if you don’t want to spend enormous amounts of money, and if you don’t plan to stay to long.

I traveled to Cinque Terre with my husband and two friends, and we had a fantastic time at La Casa Venere. We booked through HostelWorld, and after staying in a series of bigger hostels in other European cities, we were pleasantly surprised to find that La Casa Venere had more of a small boutique hostel feel. There are only a handful of rooms, and the location is a little bit off the beaten path. The room looked like what we expected from the pictures, and was clean. There was also air conditioning, although we did just fine with leaving the windows open for a nice cool breeze. The shower was a bit small compared to the larger size of the bathroom overall. It wasn't a problem for my group since we're all relatively small people, but worth knowing ahead of time if you're looking to book here. 

The couple managing the place were very responsive to messages (via WhatsApp) and worked with us to coordinate so that they could be there upon our arrival. Keep in mind that this is not like a larger hostel or hotel with 24-hour check-in. It wasn't a problem for us though. They were super nice in giving us dinner recommendations, tips on good hiking trails, and even invited us to a really beautiful and secluded sunset-watching spot down on some rocks by the bay. Would totally stay here again.

Warm hospitality, good local recs, boutique hostel feel

Very overpriced but decent room. They don't have a lobby, and the receptionist (the guy in charge) wasn't available at all times. 
That said, it is very central and at a beautiful town all the way down the cliffs.

Not a real hotel, but spacious room.

I'm glad I read the previous reviews on La Casa di Venere before showing up, as it is indeed very difficult to find. Be sure to screenshot their directions before making your way there. 

With that said, it was a great place to stay. Very clean and quiet, despite being so close to tourist central. We really enjoyed our time there.
