We stayed for 3 nights at the recommendation of a family member who highlighted the restaurant.  For 2 of the 3 nights, it was booked out to private parties and it was (routinely for a Monday) closed on the third.  So 3 nights, no restaurant, no alternative.  The Colonne Bar was likewise closed all 3 nights - we never saw it open.  Breakfast was only adequate, the orange juice was 90% water

They helpfully emailed before we arrived to offer to arrange collection from Rome Termini train station.  Despite replying 3 times to the invitation email, there was zero reply and the receptionist later informed us that in fact there is no collection from Termini!

The bedroom a/c unit set a new record for noise did nothing other than blow hot air about.

We complained and we're given an email address (the same email address as used for the collection service) and guess what - no reply to that either.

This hotel has one saving grace, it's closeness to the Vatican.  Save for that, it's a bit of a walk to any other attraction.

Given it's location and the fine old building, this could be a fabulous venue, but it needs gutting and new management.

Avoid like the plague.

To be avoided....

We had a lunch with our group at the restaurant of this hotel. It was absolutely great experience, and main reason is the building and the interiors which makes you feel like the Renaissance times. Food was good as well - not the best one but quite ok for lunch.

Very historic

Well if you are expecting a lot of extras -- forget about this, however the hotel is a former palazzo with the character of a museum. High rooms incredible paintings etc. etc.
`the location (200 meters from peters dome) and the quite spacious rooms have made me my wife and my 7-year-old son happy. The rooms were clean the bathrooms also big enough (noot the most modern though). Still -- i will be back -- not only for the restaurant which is located in the former chapel of the palace but also because of the icredible charme this palazzo has. Furthermore the reeptionists are outstanding.

Very good hotel at a fabulous location.

What a gem this is right outside St Peter's square!!  The price was fantastic and the location couldn't be beat.  An added bonus of secure on site parking lot made this hotel one we will use every time we are in Rome.  The staff was super helpful and pleasant.  The room we had was very basic...we would have liked a more comfortable bed and better pillows. The shower stall was very small and we commented that we were lucky weren't oversized people or we would not have fit in it!  We did choose the lowest category of room, which was certainly not the fault of the hotel,  and will upgrade to a higher level or room on our next visit.  The room was spotless as was the bathroom  and the housekeeping staff was great!  There is a restaurant in the hotel which was very nice after a long day of travel.  Truly a fabulous find and we will return for sure!!!

Fabulous Location right at St. Peter's Square!  Fabulous Price!

This hotel is stunning value in an amazing location.
Ravishingly beautiful building.  Such great courtesy and helpfulness  from the reception staff which is lacking in many 5 star hotels.
Yes the bedrooms may need refurbishment but our room was large very quiet and everything was very clean including the bathroom.
And a very good breakfast in a gorgeous room to make our stay such a pleasurable bargain.

Terrific value for money

We stayed in this hotel for one night while moving around Rome.
The hotel room is very basic, however if all you want is a room to sleep in then it is great.
The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean.
The breakfast, like many on the continent was not very fulfilling.  The cheese and meat slices were thin and the other alternative was toast or cereals.
We would stay there again, but not pay the additional cost for the breakfast.

One night stay

What an amazing hotel in a convent right next to St. Peter's. The location couldn't be better. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included. The rooms are simple, but everything is there. The only thing I would improve is the lighting. The rooms are somewhat dark even with all the lights on. If you're used to luxury and room service, this isn't the hotel for you. If you're interested in clean, nice, and location, stay here.

Love Love this hotel and location

This hotel is the most ideally suited for Rome.  It's the only one my wife and I will use and is literally on the Vatican's doorstep, providing close access to sites on the other side of the Tiber River (Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain).  It has it's own courtyard for parking which is huge in Rome when you have a rental, and has it's own restaurant plus is two streets over from several trattorias and pizzerias (Via Borgo Pio).  The staff at the front desk are fantastic and always so helpful (Stefania & Margarita).  Most of all is the charm of this hotel as a previously 15th century monastery.  Converted and now used for some of the nicer weddings in Rome, it's known to locals for it's character and close convenience to the Vatican.  Finally, the price is reasonable for the immense value, allowing true quality and comfort that precludes the luxury prices normally expected in Rome.  Simply the best !!!

FABULOUS HOTEL, INCREDIBLE LOCATION !!!

Last year we visited the hotel Columbus and loved the location of the hotel.
Everything was in walking distance of the hotel, which was very pleasant.
Our room was clean and the airconditioning was nice.
Breakfast was OK: only fresh boiled eggs on the first day.
