Hotel Smeraldo

What was good

It is very centrally located. Easy walk to many sites including Trevi fountain. There is a farmers marked about 2 short blocks away that has fantastic shopping and restaurants. There are plenty of places to eat walking distance and a great gelato place right across the street along with a great deli with fantastic pizza and other great food. The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful Breakfast was great. Pastry from the cafe across the street, hot food like eggs and bacon and plenty of fruit, cereal and meats and cheeses. The cappuccino was made fresh to order and it was great! Beds were comfortable and we had everything we needed. The room is small but it does the job. The bathroom was a good size and a nice shower. We had a room with a balcony but it was not one you could sit on, just open the doors and stand on it. The hotel was clean and so was the open space. It was very welcoming. The staff was great. They were friendly and helpful and they always helped us get cabs and gave us directions and tips on traveling around the city. They helped with luggage and everyone spoke English which was helpful for us. They were appreciative when we spoke Italian and they were all nice.
