FIRST: The main business here is the provision of a wedding venue, which the management photos presumably show. However, our accommodation, although large, was exceedingly gloomy and felt rather damp, being built into the rear of a huge barn. There was little artificial lighting to compensate.
SECOND: Comfort was fairly basic, but OK. Kitchen & cooking provision rudimentary - for instance, no toaster or oven, and a hob which ran off bottled gas with an apparently low pressure, but my experience of these devices is limited. Fortunately we drove down for a month (thankfully not here) so brought some kitchen equipment with us. This was a wise move as other provision was limited.
THIRD: Biting insect are clearly a problem here. Had the windows has insect mesh, this would have enabled us to open the windows for cooling and ventilation.
FOURTH: Getting into the property was a bit difficult. The exterior gates are kept locked, and although made from railings the area surrounding the lock is blocked with a metal plate. To open the gate one has to reach over the plate and blindly grope around trying to insert the key, backwards, into the lock. The fact that most locks can be used from both the inside and the outside should have made this frustrating procedure unnecessary, and why one isn't fitted is a mystery.
FIFTH: Two large white dogs (quite harmless) are loose in the grounds, apparently day and night, which lead to our being woken on several occasions by barking. Not a major inconvenience unless one finds getting back to sleep a problem.
SIXTH: We felt trapped inside the accommodation by the owner's large extended family/ friends, who were often sitting directly outside and dominating the shady area. There is no provision of comfortable (or even uncomfortable) garden seating or sun-loungers.
THIS PLACE IS BASIC AND NOT GEARED TOWARD HOLIDAY GUESTS (RATHER THE PROVISION OF A WEDDING VENUE) AND WE FELT WE WERE INTRUDERS. WE WOULD NOT RETURN.
