Beautiful country house in an amazing rural location. Close to historic villages and towns and the coast.  Run by a really lovely family.  Amazing breakfast.
Beautiful grounds with big swimming pool.   Sunday mass in the village church was lovely.   A couple of hours from Bologna.

Loved everything about Le Fontanelle. Incredibly beautiful rural setting, clean comfortable lodge and annexes , nice pool, lovely garden setting. The best part was the warm welcome and hospitality from Andrea, the cleaning staff, and especially Jean Pierre, our neighbour, maintenance man and chef extraordinaire. Our group rented the entire villa and we chose to be self sufficient for meals but we were gifted with fresh farm eggs, figs, grapes, cakes, cookies, pizzas, tomatoes, wine and home brewed beer. We loved every minute of our 3 week stay at this unforgettable place!

Perfect in every way!

We stayed here for a family vacation in July 2017. 

Upon arrival, Antonella and Nanda had set the table with goodies (first impressions do count)! They are both absolute gems, tending to our every need, AND THEN SOME! The house itself is beautiful! 

However, the rooms are definitely those of a country house. They are tight and lack storage. The beds aren't great and the pillows are not comfortable. The kitchen and coffee bar area smelled a little "closed up" and were dated. 

Everything else about this place makes up for it! The pool area is enormous and has a tremendous view of the surrounding mountains. The parking was ample for all 5 of our cars. The garden left us with enough veggies to make a sauce on 2 occasions and the help we got was much appreciated! 

If staying here, it's definitely worth a 10-minute drive to Fossombrone, as the shops, market and grocery stores are a little better (ladies, check out Maison Store, designer finds for WAY less)! 

The beach is only a 15-minute drive! Fano is great but tends to be a little wavy and has pebbles. Pesaro and Marotta are worth going to, we found they were the best! 

Even the little (tiny) town of Sant Ippolito was beautiful! Quaint little streets and beautiful views. 

For the shopping aficionados, it's worth taking a 1.5 hr drive to Sant'Elpidio a Mare for factory outlets (Tod's, Prada, Marc Jacobs, Naturini, etc.)

For the tourism lovers, the Furlo is beautiful, the Grotte Di Frassassi are stunning, Urbino is amazing, Rimini is lots of fun and Assissi is worth the drive!

Best. Grounds. Ever!

This place has my strongest recommendations! 

My wife and I spent four fantastic days here at the end of a road trip through the whole of Italy. It is a perfect place to unwind and relax by the pool or go discovering in the countryside. 

Not far from beautiful beaches on the Adriatic coast and lovely scenery in the overwhelmingly underrated Marche region. 

The hosts in the country house are the most welcoming, helpful and friendly.

Amazing plance

Nanda, Antonella and Titiana really know what hospitality means. They make you feel welcome, and that feeling stayed during our entire stay there.

Home-made limoncello after lunch and slices of toast with Nutella for the kids on a sunny afternoon by the pool. These are just tiny examples of their kindness.

But there is more; the rooms are comfortable and clean, the pool is fantastic, the garden awesome and the whole atmosphere is tranquil and relaxed.

Oh, and have I mentioned the cakes yet? At least 10 different kinds to choose from, every morning...

Hospitality in the true sense of its word

Small correction: the correct name of the country house is Le Fontanelle and not La Fontanelle as listed on Tripadvisor.
This place is the essence of everything beautiful that the Italian countryside and Italian people have to offer. Tucked away in the hills of Marche, about 40 minutes by car from Ancona airport, it offers easy access to dozens of small and pristine medieval hilltop hamlets, the Adriatic sea and the beautiful old towns of Urbino and Gubbio.
Le Fontanelle Country House is a family run bed and breakfast. The moment you come in you will be made to feel like you are part of the family. Grandma Nanda, her daughter Antonella and husband Silvano couldn’t be any more welcoming. They truly open the doors of their house to you! The place is set in the hills, with sunflower fields just up the road and nothing else but blissful quiet. The accommodation on offer includes a handful of double rooms in the main house and two apartments by the pool. The apartments comprise a double bedroom, a kitchen and living area and a bathroom. The rooms are simply furnished and spotlessly clean. The pool is the focus point for the guests. It’s large enough for grown ups and shallow enough for the smaller and younger guests. Breakfast is a feast of savoury breads and cakes, and I mean lots of cakes! The family run a restaurant in Pesaro so they have all their cakes baked in the restaurant kitchen and bring them over for breakfast. Tiziana, who serves breakfast every morning, will love to give you a full tour of the cakes and cut some big slices for you. The very first day she put 5 on my plate! She will also love to give you tips on where to go and what to visit in the area.
For lunch, Antonella will be happy to put together a salad or some sandwiches from the kitchen but please bear in mind that the place doesn’t offer a full restaurant service. This is probably a good thing as it will give you the incentive to go out and explore the local dishes.
Summer is a great time to visit this place as every single town seems to have something going on every weekend. Whilst we were there, we went along to Fano dei Cesari, a big Ancient Roman parade with cart races in the town of Fano, an old crafts fair in Candelara, an open air concert in Fossombrone, and we were only there 5 days!
One tip: consider going there only of you are planning to drive as most places will require a car to get there. You are in the middle of the countryside after all!
One final word for Antonella, Silvano and Nanda: thank you all for the great hospitality, generosity and warmth. We really could not have wished for better people to stay with. You made us feel special. We promise we will be back, like all those other people that keep on coming back to visit you.
