Sampieri has one of Sicily's most famous beaches: a 2-km-long sand beach that deepens very slowly and there were no medusas there while we were spending time in town. I swam a lot. Absolutely delight. There are not many accomodation options around but luckily there's one great b&b little uphill, Poggio Bellavista. The vista is really bella, you can see from the top of the hill a whole Sampieri beach and also farther around. The b&b is kept by Dora, she is full of energy, ("like a volcano", another guest characterized) - but only in a good way. Dora is extremely friendly and there are no problems that she won't solve. We have some trouble with air conditioning and she arranged it immediately. Our room was very beautiful and clean, it had a tropical design that suited well to a place in the middle of flourishing garden. The breakfasts were delicious and there's a good parking place for a car. And by the way, there are not so many geocaches in Sicily, but one of them has been owned to Dora's place! We really liked this place.

A wonderful b&b in the middle of flourishing garden

We stayed at Poggio Bellavista for 5 nights and enjoyed every moment of it! Dora and her son were wonderful hosts and we felt at home from the very first moment we arrived. The little "huts" (we had two of them) were nice and cosy and quite obviously Dora had  put a lot of effort into decorating the huts individually and making them look inviting. 

Having breakfast in the little restaurant behind the main building was a nice start to the day - with proper Italian coffee, a selection of bread, fruit and yoghurt.  

The beach was close by (by car 5 minutes), the wonderful town of Scicli only 15 minutes by car away, and the other remarkable cities (Modica, Syracuse, Noto) were very easy to reach as well. This makes Poggio Bellavista a great place to stay at when you are not only looking to have a beach holiday, but want some cultural experiences as well.

A wonderful and relaxing stay for my whole family!

I spent two peaceful nights here and could have easily spent more. The hosts were more than welcoming, cooking me a huge feast and offering me the best wine I'd had throughout my stay. I really felt at home the whole time. I was a solo traveller and was a bit nervous that I would feel secluded without my own transport but it was no problem for them to drop me off and collect me from the town and station and the beach is easily accessible. The rooms all face out onto a patio so are really private and have stunning views during the day and it's amazingly tranquil throughout the day and night. It's definitely on my wishlist of places to return to. A real seaside retreat with five star treatment! The best way to get here by public transport is by bus from Scicli. I didn't want to leave!

This is a fabulous b&b and just like the photos. Dorita and Bernhardt are charming hosts who welcomed us into their home for three fabulous days. They speak good English and are helpful about what to do nearby. The extensive breakfasts are served in a lovely sunny room, where Bernhardt circulates talking to everyone and anticipating your every need. Whilst we there, a number of us guests wanted an evening meal. The menu was discussed with us in the morning, and that night, a big communal table on the terrace was laden with fresh grilled fish for a splendid meal. It was very sociable too, and we felt like best friends with everyone - for three days!
If you're looking for a break "away from it all" Bella Vista fits the bill. I couldn't say this place is suitable if you don't have transport, as it's a good three km from the village of Sampieri and the gorgeous beach, and the nearest restaurant is nearly two km away. But if you don't mind a short drive, the town of Scicli is charming with many restaurants, and a Montalbano connection!
We really enjoyed our stay, and the rooms are charmingly quirky. There are loungers, and grassy and terraced areas too, so if you just want to stay around the villa and sunbathe you can. Our stay was a most enjoyable filling in a sandwich of city stays in Syracuse and Ragusa, and despite planning more culture, we happily lolled in the lido mostly.
Dorita and Bernhardt make this place with their attention to detail, and I happily recommend their lovely home.

Bella Bella Vista

We have just returned from the most wonderful holiday and Poggio Bellavista was without doubt the highlight of our trip. On arrival we were given with fresh coffee and croissants. The hosts speak fantastic English and cannot do enough to help you. The cottages are simply beautiful they are set in wonderful gardens and have a great view of the sea. I also loved the fact they had there own private seating area so if you don't fancy the beach you can sit on a sun lounger and read your book! Samperi is a wonderful location the beaches are stunning and it is a great base to explore Scicli and Modica. I cannot recommend this place highly enough we left feeling relaxed, happy and part of the family - Thank you!
