We were looking for a hotel near a beach and thought we would try Hotel Paguro. What a greatchoice we made! A simple hotel but with a 5☆ welcome! Everyone in the hotel could not have been friendlier or more welcoming, and if you like fish, there fish restaurant overlooking the sea, is amazing. We had the best fresh caught sea bass ever. Thanks for a fantastic 6 nights. Highly recommended.

A 5* 2* Hotel!

I recently stayed at the Paguro in June while on vacation from Chicago in Sicily.  Let me start by telling you how great and helpful the staff was at this unique hotel. They treat you as if they have known you for years. They attend to all your needs.  Always are attentive and have a smile to greet you. Salvatore and Giacomo will do their very best to ensure your needs are met. 
The hotel itself is unique due to its outstanding location. Right on the sea.  Beautiful view and the sound of the water is soothing.  The rooms are spacious and clean. They have everything you could possibly need while vacationing.
The food at the little hotel restaurant was terrific.  They made a fish dish special for my group that was delicious. The chef, Paolo came out to make sure everything was to our liking. The seafood was fresh, tasty and plentiful.  They also serve a typical Italian breakfast in the lobby restaurant.
It is not a new hotel but very comfortable and welcoming.  You won't meet a friendlier staff who is willing to attend to your every need. The hotel is clean and the view is priceless!  The ambiance makes me want to go back right now. This hotel is what makes Sicily so wonderful!

Friendliest Staff and Interesting Place

We had booked an apartment with a sea view for four nights at the Paguro. The apartment was basic but clean; we expected to have a balcony overlooking the sea but the view of the Med was only visible over rooftops at the side of the hotel. We objected to this and we're told we could have an apartment facing the sea for the first two nights. However, on seeing it we decided to stick with what we had got. Apparently, most of the sea-facing apartments are privately owned.

Breakfast was adequate and cheap enough at five euros. The biggest plus was that the staff were very helpful and obliging. Overall, though, the experience of staying here was disappointing. The hotel was built in the 1970s and still seems stuck in that decade. It's tired and needs upgrading to make it value for money. We were also disappointed with Siculiana; it has a lovely beach but little else. There are no shops in the marina and there is a distinct air of neglect about the place with stray dogs and cats on the streets although they are not at all threatening. 

This is not somewhere we'd stay again.

Very disappointing

We have stayed at the Paguro a couple of times and plan to go again, so we obviously like it!  It is a classic seventies style seaside hotel however that is reflected in the price which is great value.  The rooms are simple but the ones with sea views are fantastic.  We ate a lovely lobster dinner in the hotel, and there are also a couple of other excellent  fish restaurants close by.  It's really a Sicilian holiday spot for locals so comes without trimmings but it does offer quite an authentic experience.  The temples of Agrigento are 15 minutes away and in the other direction you can find some of the best beaches in Sicily in the Torre Salsa nature reserve.

Amazing position

Unfortunately when we were there the Sea was rough so we did not get to enjoy the water as planned. The apartment was quite dated and very bare bones. We booked to stay for 5 nights as it was a good location to visit nearby towns and attractions. We had to walk a good 2 city blocks to throw out our garbage as they do not accommodate you at the Hotel for garbage disposal???? Parking is hard to come by and were not there I high season. We did not eat any meals on site so can't comment on food. I feel bad to say it, but we would not stay there again......no beach.....

A bit outdated......

We received a warm welcome and enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is right near the long, sandy beach. The owners are very friendly and helpful. They have a restaurant opposite, overlooking the sea, with home cooking, good particularly on our first night. This little seaside town is an excellent base for visiting nearby Valley of the Temples, the beautiful beaches at Eraclea Minoa and Torre Salsa, and Scala dei Turchi. There are other restaurants very close to the hotel, including a pizza hotel and the excellent Lustru di Luna.
