We stayed two nights in this castle curious about the idea of sleeping in a castle. Clean and immersed in the beautiful Tuscan landscape two steps from Siena. Inevitably staying in a castle (in the oldest part) the humidity inside was very high. A negative note is that inside our apartment he didn't pick up the phone, so for any need we had to go out to make a phone call. The owners were very kind and available, both at our arrival and our departure.

A pleasant stay

I wanted for years to spend a few days immersed in the colors and landscapes of Tuscany and I chose this structure curious from the experience of being able to stay in a castle, two steps from the beautiful Siena. From the room that the owners have (gently 😍) reserved for me, the tallest tower of the castle, there was a wonderful view, to the height of the expectations.

It's a fairy tale room.

The Monteliscai Castle (the one that remains) is located a ten-minute drive from Siena in a quiet and isolated place immersed in the green. Very kind the owners who also run an agriturismo in the vicinity. The structure has been kept practically in its original state with stone walls. I got to see the apartment with the backrest and the one with 2 bedrooms. The one with the room on the backrest is without windows and the only window opening is the entrance door. While the apartment with 2 bedrooms is very large but the rooms still have 2 windows quite small. The main problem is the moisture and the smell of closure in both. The furnishings are strong and the TV.

An architectural structure beautifully restored and inserted into a breathtaking landscape, a few kilometers from the city but absolutely blown away by noises and sounds that are not those of nature, starting point for easy discovery of the adjacent areas of Chianti and Crete. Historical frequentator of the castle, this year I wanted to stay in the room on top of the tower, and enjoy for breakfast the common kitchen also available from the other two rooms... exceptional living room.

Beautiful setting for an unforgettable stay

My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 days in the castle of Monteliscai, inside a beautiful apartment with a balcony. In addition to being a highly suggestive place with a crazy view, it is also very close to the center of Siena, in a strategic position! The managers were extremely kind and available, when we arrived they offered us a glass of holy wine of their production and entertained us pleasantly with stories and anecdotes about Siena, a welcome we would never have expected and that really warmed our hearts.

It's a wonderful structure.

Great location for exploring Siena and the surrounding area, plus we had great luck with the restaurants just to the north (?) of the castle, La Piccarda (a trip highlight) and Osteria Bella Napoli. The stay in the castle was a return visit, and we liked it just as much the second time- nicely renovated. We were very well received by the agriturismo staff. It was a great stay.

Who wouldn't want to stay in a castle!?

Very well run castle rooms by the owners themselves.
Authentic castle with antique finishing.  If you are looking for a modern high tech swanky place this is not for you, but if you want a unique/ different experience and of course you have a car to get around, this is ideal.

Not a place to say yes we would return one day, but satisfied with stay if not overly excited about it. 

Good stay at self catering castle

The stay at Castello di Monteliscai was a genuinely wonderful experience.  Large rooms, easy for self catering and dining and relaxing.  The views were stunning and our children enjoyed exploring and playing around the Castle.   The hosts were excellent, very friendly and helpful.  Our kids loved them and they even helped us with coordinating bicycle hire and advice about where to shop, visit etc.  A memorable experience.  I would definitely recommend for families and couples.

Excellent family stay

What a unique experience to stay in a castle from 1100 AD. The hotel was very nice and in somewhat in the theme of what you would expect for castle decore, but was modern. But what did it was the setting, the beautiful country side, views and castle entrance. A taxi or bus is mandatory. It is highly recommend you do not walk the main roads due to pedestrian safety. It was a little inconvenient to check in at a different location, but if you have a car it would not be so bad. Siena would be the main attraction around to visit, being an old medieval town. There is no food or coffee at the castle, so bring your own food. There is refrigeration and a kitchen to use. The only two things we wish the castle had  would have been wifi and a coffee maker at the castle.

Awesome!

A very nice and old building with excellent hosts! The room was very spacy, convenient and clean. The most important is the atmosphere, we felt like living in an other era. Also, the view is gorgeous!
