My daughter used this hotel as a stopover before joining the cruise ship she works on.  After a long trip to Trieste from the UK, my daughter was greeted by the owner who I think is called Elle.  The hotel is clean and comfortable and very close to the Port, so in a very good part of Trieste.  Nothing was too much trouble for Elle and when my daughter was delayed in joining her ship, Elle told her to stay put and also let her stay another night.  I am told this is a very friendly and comfortable hotel in an ideal location and I for one am very grateful to the owner for looking after my daughter.

FRIENDLY & COMFORTABLE

Located on 4th floor of character full apartment building a few minutes walk from the centre of Trieste. We had two rooms for three days, one room had seperate but private bathroom. Run by lovely Australian lady , Marylin, can't fault it at all. 20 min walk or 10€ taxi ride from Rail & Bus stations. Tip - if you want quality and value accommodation in the centre of Trieste, book early.

Fantastic value & location B&B

Stayed in this B&B last week and can recommend it. Comfortable, clean, light, located on the top-floor of an old building in an attractive neighbourhood. Breakfast was delicious with lashings of good coffee. I arrived without having made a reservation. Advantage Accommodation was suggested by someone at the Joyce and Svevo B&B nearby. Marylin, the Australian who runs the place together with her Italian partner, is friendly and helpful.

Good value

We came to Trieste for a family wedding in the nearby quaint town of Muggia (well worth a visit). Everything was perfect, the weather, the city, the accommodation. We didnt have a car but other family members did, and no it wasnt easy to get a car parking space, but they are available you just have to be patient and be prepared to walk a couple of streets along - not a problem really!!
The accommodation - very clean, very airy and spacious, the bed was comfortable, we had a room without an ensuite, which was also no problem as we still had our own (very clean) bathroom accross the hall. There are rooms with ensuite available if you book early.
Breakfast is continental style and there is plenty of it, with fresh bread, fruit and a variety of breakfast goodies.
The hosts Maralyn & Emilio - tremendously friendly, helpful and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. Maralyn is Australian so both she and Emilio speak english which was an added bonus for us, as Maralyn told us all about the city, the history, the best places to eat and drink, where all the free concerts and entertainment was. This really enhanced our stay as we were able to enjoy some of the local culture.
A little tip, if you are flying in to Trieste a taxi is costed around 60 Euros, but for 4 Euros each get the bus, its right outside the Airport No 51, they run every 30 minutes (2 hourly on Sundays) it takes 40 minutes and you see some of the spectacular scenery on route, the bus station is central if your staying within the city itself.
Places to vsit - The central square is lovely especially at night, the harbour has plenty to look at, we even experienced a jazz concert from a boat by the jetty, bathing in the far end of the harbour -its a natural conservation area where no boats are allowed, so there are lots of varieties of fish and birds. If you walk away from the city you can get to a beautiful park and the castle miramar or you you can take a speed boat accross the harbour.
All in all, we loved Trieste and the accommodation was perfect for us - we will definately be stayingthere again in the future

Fabulous hosts

Before you book this place, make sure you know exactly what you are getting.  In my case, I was getting a single room for 3 adult men to stay in.  I never would have guessed that from the descriptions in Tripadivsor or other hotel sites--I thought we were getting individual bedrooms.  Our hostess admitted to us that the description on Tripadvisor was inaccurate and claimed that she had asked Tripadvisor to make some changes, but they didn't.

So, we had to rent an additional room, but since that additional room wasn't available the last night of our stay, we secured a hotel in Gorizia instead (since we were touring the battlefields in that area anyway).

Moving past that issue, my review is as follows. 

The good:  You can't fault the location of this place and the price was fair, although on the high side of fair.

The bad:  1.  Parking is a total nightmare, and the time you waste in finding a spot cancels out the advantage of the location.  After 7 p.m. the parking frees up a bit, but before then, it will take you at least a half hour to find a spot, and the spot is likely to be a half mile away.  If you are driving to Trieste and using Trieste as a base for day trips to Slovenia or Croatia, you would be advised to find another place to stay.  While our hostess says in some of these reviews that you can't expect free and available parking in an Italian City, that hasn't been my experience at all in renting condos in such places as Verona, Treviso and even Florence.  

2.   Breakfast was barely adequate--cereal and brioches being the main entrees.  And the room fridge was tiny, barely enough for a couple of bottles of water or beer.

I'm giving this place a 2 star rating for the foregoing reasons.  If you aren't parking, and if you know what you are getting, consider it a 3 star.
