I had a terrible stay here, the receptionist gave me no information about the stay & only handed me the key. The beds are very thin and uncomfortable, I was also not given a towel. Bathrooms are unclean and mouldy.

I recently stayed here and the place definitely wasn't up to a good standard. They didn't supply any soaps or toilet paper. Sleeping was a nightmare as there was a mosquito problem so had to sleep with the sheet above my head and covering down to my toes just to avoid being bitten and having them buzz in my ear every 5 seconds. 

Stiff sheets and mosquito's 

The hostel owner is rude and impolite. 

I booked 3 nights stay in hostel, but due to some issue, I arrived on the second day morning. I did try to inform the hostel via Booking.com but she said didn’t receive it. 

The front door is always locked and mentioned the opening hour as 9:00-22:00, but the woman didn't show up until 9:20 after I called her twice.  When I tried to do the check in the second day morning, she talked to me in a very rude way, said need to charge me extra because I was late for check in. I tried to explain to her and showed her the msg I sent to her, but she didn’t want to listen to me. 

Worse still, she was mad without listening and even said won’t do my check in , don’t wanna provide me the stay and opened the door to ask me out... it doesn’t make any sense and she gave me the worst first impression of Italian people and Venice. As I was with a local friend, he helped me solve the conflict between me and the woman and finally I can check in,, but overall it’s definitely the worst hostel experience I’ve ever had. Imagine What would happened if I don't know any local here..  

Please stay away from this hostel if you wanna enjoy your travel in Venice.  

PS: this is not a well organised hostel, it’s like just a house owned by a woman to rent you a stay, don’t expect anything from here.

Rude and Impolite Hostel Owner - worst and disappointing experience

I stayed at this hostel for one night with my mum. The receptionist was very friendly and seemed like a happy person to me. We were pleasantly surprised by the room we got. It was in the house next door and it was basically a house. Bathroom, fully equipped kitchen and a living room on the ground floor and two rooms upstairs - one for us and one for another guest, almost like a holiday flat with a roommate.
What I didn't like was that the shower head was located very high up in the shower and I could hardly reach ist. There was a broken hold that was at a normal height and it got replaced with one above the tiles. If you are a small person, you won't be able to reach it.
We were told that it was not possible to store our luggage at the hostel after check-out, so we had to pay for luggage storage somewhere else. It would have been convenient to just leave it there for half a day.

Almost like a holiday flat

I was very impressed by the cleanliness of this facility. Amazing canal view with clean and comfortable bed. Friendly staff who really looks after the building with care and love. This is a place well loved by travellers. Will stay again.

Amazing

I’d like to start by saying I’ve travelled all over the world and stayed in hundreds of hostels. I’m not a young student going out getting drunk and partying all night; I’m respectful of where I stay and always try to make friends with local people and others staying in the hostel.

I arrived an hour earlier than check in as my train was early and I wanted to leave my bag while I got lunch. The owner (I assume) straight away was hostile asking had I made a reservation, because if I had then she’d have emailed to say the check in time; she did, however, let me leave my bag - but made me feel bad for it.  I returned at the ‘correct’ time for check in and she clearly was still in a bad mood.  I used the bathroom and, completely by accident, the lock broke and I cut my hand I went to tell her and apologise, whereupon she didn’t ask if I was ok (clearly bleeding) or offer me a plaster for the cut. Instead she kept saying how did you do this, what did you do and tutting and huffing! By now I felt really bad and very uncomfortable.

Fast forward to the next day and the lock was ‘fixed’ with what looked to be very cheap replacement. I had stayed out all day as I felt uncomfortable going back there and had attended a concert so it was around 11pm and all the people in my room were asleep. I was taking extreme care with the bathroom lock and got changed in there but as I went to leave it broke locking me in! I couldn’t believe it and frantically tried to fix it. Another guest heard me and tried to help fetching the owner - she tried to break the door and I said to stop as I could probably get it out now it had moved and I did. When the door opened the owner went mad - shouting at me at the top of her voice in front of this other guest and outside the door of where other guests were sleeping- trying to imply that I’d locked myself in there on purpose and broken the lock! I said at this point she’s the most rude woman I’ve ever met and she actually slammed the bathroom door (with me inside still) - it couldn’t lock though obviously and she stormed off. 

I’ve never been treated so shockingly! She clearly had no respect for her other guests trying to sleep either and needs to think about taking a customer service course!  

This lady has completely ruined my experience of Venice and I have left with a very poor view of this ‘business’ ! 

Well done for ruining somewhere I’ve dreamed of visiting since I was a child! 

Terrible attitude 

I slept there two nights. After a problem, I arrived at 10: 00 without reservation. The girl who was working the service was still there. She welcomed me with great kindness. She explained how it works. The hostel is 5 - 10 minutes from the station or bus station. Nearby, we find good pizzerias or restaurants and the bars quarter, there is a nearby supermarket and atm to withdraw money. The beds and rooms are very good and the bathroom is clean. There's a kitchen available to cook. We shared a night with the other people at the hotel and the staff.
Best experience for me in venisa!

It’s the best hotel

Really cost, smal hostel with funny Maria reception girl. I will come back if I visit Venice! She let me leave luggage untill time I ask. Was very helpful. Room is nice and clean. I chose room for girls. And price is very good.

Large room with no bunk beds so you can enjoy more having your little space to sleep.

Kitchen is small but there is almost everything you need to eat/cook
The location is not difficult to find

20min walking from the center

I stay 2 nights and it was super nice. I loved to talk with the manager, she is a lovely person and she will try her best for you to have the best experience possible.
If you're kind she will be super kind with you!

Lovely stay at Silk Road

I stayed one night in June. The only good thing about this hostel is it is next to a few restaraunts and is clean. The staff is very friendly.

Besides that, I found this hostel to be way too hot. No a/c, just fans and windows. When the window is open, you can hear noise from boats and people walking through the alleyway. The room is too hot to just use the fan. Kitchen has limited hours which is unfortunate if you want a glass of water or to cook something during certain hours. Breakfast is not included. For the price, I would not book here again. I would do a night in an AirBNB or stay elsewhere.
