The common area at this hostel is where Generator Hostel really shines. If you want to recharge in the middle of the day, or have a nice time with friends or solo, it's a great place with fun decor, lots of seating and a nice little bar. Several couches and comfy chairs with coffee tables, some high stools around tall tables, as well as standard tables with chairs. I saw some people working on their computers, and if I had brought my computer, I would have loved to work in this area. As with any hostel where you are sleeping in the same room as a bunch of other people you don't know, it's a roll of the dice as to whether there will be someone snoring. Which has nothing to do with the hostel itself. I stayed two nights and both nights, I got such excellent sleep that I only needed about 5-6 hours to feel energized and ready to explore Venice. Even though on the first night, there was one or two people snoring in the room. Other than that, it was a respectful environment where everyone understood the assignment: keep to yourself and let everyone get their rest.

Additional information

In accordance with the Institutional Regulations and the rules governing the fee for access, with or without a shuttle service, in Venice and the small islands of the Venetian Lagoon, an additional fee is charged to day-trippers who do not stay overnight and plan to visit the historic city centre from Friday to Sunday or on public holidays, from 08:30 AM to 04:00 PM. The fee will be from EUR 5.00 to 10.00 per day, depending on the date of booking. After payment, tourists must have a confirmation. Exempt from this fee are children under 14; residents of Venice and the Veneto region; people working or studying in Venice. Guests staying overnight are also exempt from this fee and must pay the city tax at the accommodation facilities.

A cleaning tax is not included in the reservation price and is payable separately at the hotel.
