The room was lovely, very Caribbean feel with the shuttered windows which I love. Everything was new, clean and bright. Fantastic bathroom and shower. Lovely bed. Communal kitchen area fully equipped. Lovely flowers on site. Gated and safe. Hostess was respectful of our privacy. Definitely recommended and hope I can stay there again. Thank you for the lovely stay.

A tranquil spot yet close to everything

On August 6th, we booked Search-Me-Heart. My boyfriend and I knocked at the door several times however, no one answered.  Finally, one of the men from the bar up the street saw us and decided to help us.  He stood at the end of the fence and called out to the owner who resided in the back.  Five minutes later, she opened the gate.  
She quickly mentioned she did not receive our reservation.  I mentioned that I had the reservation on my phone if she needed to see it.  She repeated two more times that she had not received our reservation.  I got the impression from her demeanor that she did not want us there.  
She took our temperatures and argued that our temperatures were 25 degrees and abnormal.  I took a digital thermometer from my purse and took my temperature, which registered 37 degrees Celsius which is normal.  She told me my temperature was too high.  I did not respond and politely asked to see the room.  
The room was extremely hot so we asked her for a portable fan.  She then spouted out, “What do you expect for $65USD a night?  I did not advertise air-conditioning”.  I asked for a refund because it did not appear she wanted us there and she then spouted insults toward me.  I left her property and booked at Match Hotel.

I do not recommend this property.  If you are a person of colour, please do yourself a favour and spend your money somewhere else.  Preferably locally owned where they will treat you better.  


Beware of Nasty Hostess

Having been at an all inclusive resort for the previous five days, coming to Search-Me-Heart immediately felt like home. O’Neil had driven us there and then showed us around. Set right in the middle of Drapers, it was just far enough from the main road to make it quiet, yet in the middle of it all. Our room with a small porch looking at the back yard was lovely. The bed was comfortable and everything was spotless. The bathroom with a large shower and hot water was much appreciated at the end of a hot day at the beach. The common kitchen area was well equipped and had a good sized refrigerator for your food and Red Stripe! WiFi was strong and consistent too. 
The vibe of being in Drapers is so real. The sounds of barking dogs, and reggae music at night, and the many roosters crowing in the morning, will truly be missed. The people of Drapers are very friendly and fun to chill with. Claudia’s and Woody’s were both delicious and within close walking distance. There are also a few more restaurant/bars quite close too. Although expensive, Bush Bar was just beautiful and had amazing food. 
All of the great beaches are within a short walk or taxi ride, and are the best beaches that I’ve seen in Jamaica.
Rosanna was a great host and a pleasure to talk to. She can recommend places to eat and set up excursions too. O’Neil is very nice, a great driver and full of so much useful info about the area. Thanks Marlene for keeping everything so clean and fresh! 
We would really love to spend a few weeks at Search-Me-Heart in the future and that can’t be soon enough!

Pure Bliss

This place is immaculate, very chilled out and confortable. Few minutes walking to the Frenchmen cove and a ride (by route taxi) to all the main highlights of the area. There is a small market 5 minutes walking and an amazing burger place in front of it (Woody). Rosanna and O'Neil are very kind and nice people, providing with tips and trying to accommodate your needs. O'Neil is a very good driver and available to drive you around if you required. We already miss this peaceful place!

Few days per weeks (most likely Saturday and Sunday) there is very loud music from the bar close by. It was not an issue for us and indeed it was nice to grab a beer there.

Great guest house in Portland!

The cleanest, quaintest guesthouse that side of the island. Immaculately kept rooms and bathrooms make for a very comfortable stay and good night's rest. Access to the communal kitchenette made it easy to get a cup of tea and warm water for my baby's bottle. The beautiful gardens create a zen like atmosphere that allows for a few quite moments with the birds and wind. We loved it and would def go back.

Clean & Quaint

Husband and I stayed only one night and should have stayed more as this place is a gem.  Owned and run by wonderful people, the place is beautifully kept. Rooms are private secure clean and comfortable. Open concept kitchen with all amenities you'll need a common area with hammock, books and variety of chairs and nooks...store, bar and excellent food (from Brian!) just across the street. Small place left a big impression - we'll be back.

Private garden oasis...

My wife and i stayed at search me heart during our honeymoon in jamaica. We had a great time there. The owner, O'Neil, took great care of us (his wife was in Europe during our stay). From Drapers you can reach some of the most beautiful beaches by foot (Frenchmans Cove and San San Beach). Winifred Beach is 15 min by car. The town is smal but nice. The Music from the bars around the place can be loud, but it's part of the jamaican experience. If you want to organize any trip (for example going to the blue lagon or rafting), O'Neil will help you for sure. The room (we where staying in the “kiss me over the garden gate“) was also very nice and the citchen area has everything you need to cook a meal by your own. Thank you Search Me Heart for having us!
