Marvellous ryokan in beautiful Hakodate. The rooms are spacious (futon beds are rolled out by staff in the evening a d disappear after breakfast). 

The kaiseki-ryōri dinner was excellent and served, as is the tradition, in the room. Breakfast (as good as the dinner) was similarly served in the room. 

The onsen baths are traditional (one pool indoors and one outside, nicely sheltered). Beautifully mineral water. 

The staff are so so kind, it was an absolute pleasure staying there.

Wonderful ryokan!

Some time ago we stayed here for our 35th Wedding Anniversary, which Ichi no Matsu made a great celebration for us. See photo. A lovely Ryokan with the famous Yunokawa Hot Springs in the Baths and even though Hakodate is a big city, it is very quiet and relaxing. 
They are known for the quality of their food, freshest seafood-amazing squid! Very cleverly plated on beautifully designed china. Even breakfast was served in our room which is rare these days of buffet...
Kamisama (Ryokan Mistress) was explaining about the unusual tatami corridors-usually the mats are just in the rooms, and the hallways are wood. Here it is a constant flow of tatami (look for the large Koi sewed into the tatami in the main entrance!)

Wonderful Wedding Anniversary

I have been here now about 5 times and is always very very tasty. The staff is very friendly and one can have a great dinner. A good address for people who enjoy excellent japanese food. The crab dish is a must. The onsen is small but very cosy. And the rooms very clean.

Amazing food!

Every time My husband visits Japan, he wants to experience a traditional Japanese way of eating/sleeping and bathing.  Ladies work at this Ryokan wears traditional Japanese Kimono who brought us a Japanese sweets and tea when We arrived and brought morning and evening meals.  A lady was so nice to us and provided everything we needed.  
This Ryokan is closed to Hakodate airport that we got on a bus and got off on first stop. After we got off, we crossed a street and ryokan was there.  It’s very convenient.  Cable car station was also walking distance from Ryokan.  
A traditional Japanese room with modern conveniences of free WiFi access which made us even better. 
My husband and I enjoyed a hot spring in Ryokan morning and evening.  It’s very relaxing.
Only one negative is bathroom in our room was not modern.  It needs upgrade to accommodate foreign visitors.
Overall we were satisfied.

Great seasonal foods and hot spring to relax

The ryokan is situated near the end of the Yunokawa onsen street. It's quite easy to locate.  Take tram to Yunokawaonsen station. Once off the tram u will see a foot bath across the street. Then walk along the canal on the left till you see the ryokan. Take off shoes when you r in the ryokan. You can walk around bare footed or in socks. Dinner is served in room n after dinner, they will come n lay the futons. The kaiseki dishes are marvelous. Included a hairy crab n a fried kinki. The onsen is small n they have an outdoor one too. For breakfast, it's also served in room. Half an hr before breakfast, they will come to keep the futons. Overall we enjoyed our stay v much. 

A nice quiet ryokan

Quiet ryokan where you can slow down your pace and relax in. Friendly staff. Limited english but always trying to understand your needs. Small indoor and open area onsen perfect to soak in during winter. Impressive breakfast and dinner spread which never disappoint you. Dinner will be served in your room. Toilet are small but usually you will be using the onsen shower facility more. Miss the place ever since we are back.

Quiet small ryokan with impressive spread of Breakfast & Dinner

I stayed there one night. It's a small place but very cute. Rooms were old but everything was very clean. Service was excellent! Kaiseki was really good. the view from the spa was really nice. They have a pretty Zen garden in the lobby area. You can go to see Onsen monkeys near there. It's kind of sad to watch them but don't miss that!
