For the 75000 yen per nite I felt it was rip off.i stayed in another ryokan the previous nite at 69000 yen and had much value. The food is ok but no expensive ingredients like abalone or otoro or white truffles that the other Ryokans we stayed in gave us. Room was tiny. Amenities were cheap and basic. No wifi at all. They said they had wifi in ground floor but turns out it is access to a public wifi and when we had trouble logging in downstairs (not in our room) , the guy working there had the audacity to ask us to go into town to buy a wifi card at nite when we can't speak Japanese and don't know our way around.i have stayed in 77 Ryokans in my last 20 years (yes it is a passion of mine) but this ryokan was bad value for money. They are not bad per se, but bad for the price we paid. If they charged like 50000 yen, I may have given them a slightly better review.

Disappointed

Wonderful service and accommodations. 9 private rooms in this 3 story building. Stayed in the Moegi room on the third floor and it had a dining area on tatami mats and a double bed area and a private wooden onsen on the back deck with outdoor shower.  The room faces the tree lined mountains and has a peek-a-boo cutout to the side on the deck since it's a corner spot. Toilet is in a small room with a small sink and the bigger sink and toiletries are across of the bed. There's not a lot of space for luggage and unpacking since you don't want to unpack in the dining room since that's where your meals are served. 

Great personalized service and attention. Makes you feel so welcome and at home. Yuuriko-san was so attentive and friendly throughout our stay. 

They provide nice yukata for dinner and a casual yukata for after the bath and for sleeping. 

Air conditioned. 

Provides hot water and cold water in the room with a stocked mini fridge (alcohol etc for purchase like a mini bar). 

Dinner and breakfast are served in your room! You can eat at 6 or 6:15pm for dinner and 8:45 or 9am for breakfast.  I only wish they served the rice earlier in the dinner, but if that's the only issue then yes it was a great stay. 

Toiletries all provided. 

There were some mosquitos but they also have a little machine to help keep the bugs away. 

There is no contact info for the hotel other than direct international phone number but they do speak some English and accommodated my requests perfectly (including dietary requests for the half board - kaiseki dinner and breakfast).

About a 10 min ride on the B Course Ryokan shuttle bus (100 yen per person each way) from Hakone Yumoto station. Bus departs across of the train station on the 15 and 45 past the hour. The bus is tiny so get there early if you can and just squeeze on and know it will be a short ride. Remember to tell the driver you are going to seikansou. It was the third stop for us but it might depend on how many other places people are getting off of. 

There are public onsen on the bottom floor - one for men and one for women. 

There isn't much to do at the hotel itself but you don't come to Seikansou for that. Just relax and once you put your yukata on, you don't have to worry. Oh you take your shoes off at the front entrance and you don't see it again until you leave!



Relaxing and serene getaway 

This was an aiming experience! At first we were a bit concerned regarding the price, but after spending just one night here we would definitely recommend it!

Firstly the staff was amazing, we had Tommy who had an energetic and helpful spirit. The food was delicious, a 9 course keiseki dinner was served (probably one of the best food experiences I've had).

Let's not forget about the private onsen and the outstanding view of the mountain side!

Don't hesitate on the price! This place is definitely worth the experience. A highlight of our trip in Japan!

Outstanding experience!

This was our first Ryokan experience and it absolutely exceeded our expectation.  The outdoor private onsen overlooking the mountain was just the perfect way to relax!  The room was very clean and traditional, just what you would expect from a Ryokan. The breakfast and dinners were served kaiseki style by our wonderful wait staff Kiku.  Although Kiku didn't speak too much English we managed to use our little dictionary to converse with her and it worked well enough! Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented, so pretty that you wouldn't want to eat!

The staff were very accommodating regarding our breakfast and dinner times.  They also helped us put together an itinerary for a day trip to Owakudane. They respected the privacy of the guests and were only seen or heard during meal times.

The ryokan is a 10min ride from the Hakone train station.  You could either take a hotel shuttle bus or a taxi - there are plenty outside the station.  From the ryokan there are a few buses that run on this road (there is a stop near the ryokan).  Depending on the bus, you can take it back to town or to the Togendai boat pier.  Kiku even walked us to the bus station the first day!

All in all it was a great experience and we're glad to have stayed in a smaller and more private ryokan.  The place was fully booked but we only ran into another couple once during our stay.  We would definitely come back!

Wonderful first Ryokan experience!

To make our first visit to Japan special, my niece and nephew (who live in Asia) reserved an overnight stay for the 4 of us at Seikansou.  From the moment we entered the front door of the Zen-like environment of this ryokan, we knew this was going to be an extraordinary experience.  Our room was lovely, with high quality bath products and a gorgeous, private onsen overlooking dense woods.  We had a delicious, multi-course keiseki dinner served by a kimono-clad woman who could not have been more solicitous.  (I think her name was Yukiko.)  The next morning, we were treated to an equally impressive multi-course Japanese breakfast.

If you're looking for gracious service, an immaculate environment and an authentic ryokan experience, this is the place!  Be sure to get good directions because Seikansou is not easy to find. Only one person spoke English well, and my niece who speaks Japanese made the reservation, so I can't vouch for how easy it would be for an English speaker to reserve a room here.
