If you need a comfortable, large space for your family, you can’t go wrong with Epoch.
We stayed at Epoch Lodge, in a two-level cottage. The ground floor came with a living area, kitchenette(hot plate, microwave, fridge, kettle, oven etc) and a bathtub, shower area, sink and 2 toilettes. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms with Tatami beds. 
The entire cottage is centrally heated with heated floors etc. So, there’s no lack of comfort here even when it hits -10 c outside. Oh, and the views from your windows are 😍! 

A very special mention for the Lodge manager Toshi and his wife who will do everything to make your stay special. This includes driving you around town, daily visits to a massive supermarket(ideal for groceries and chilled Japanese food you can reheat in the cottage), restaurant drop off’s and ski lessons.

Fabulous accommodation, generous accommodating hosts.

Our family of 5 stayed in the 5 person western cabin. We were impressed with the high quality and character of this accommodation. Downstairs a large living area, bathroom and kitchen area. Upstairs 2 bedrooms, a loft with space for another single bed and another small seating area. 
Kitchen well equipped - only things missing were a really big saucepan and a strainer. Rice cooker and toaster were excellent. 
Beds were very comfortable. The 1 bathroom worked well as the toilet and also the shower/bath area were separated by doors so 2 family members could be using different aspects of the bathroom at the same time with privacy. Shower pressure is awesome - photos make it look a bit odd but it’s fabulous! 
Toshi and his wife Myumi were wonderful hosts- you would just turn up at reception and they would drive you to the ski lifts, the supermarket and restaurants. If you were eating too far away you would need to catch a taxi back as they retire about 8pm. 
The private onsen was lovely after a day of skiing. Worth the extra charge to try at least once. Water was very warm so we couldn’t stay for the full hour. 
Hakuba is spread out so walkable to a few eateries but fortunately the included transport overcomes this issue.
Although Happo one lift is close it is not a safe walk in ski boots as it is a slippery and steep path. Use the complimentary service to overcome this too! 
Wifi worked well although did need to be rebooted a few times.
Also lots of heated space to hang ski clothes, and coin washing machine and dryer in complex with washing powder provided.
Highly recommended self catering accomodation. 



A great find - character, space and great hosts

We have received Toshi's exclusive and full care, him and his wife drove us everywhere we needed to go and were fantastic hosts. Not only Log Cottage Epoch was charming, but also homey, spacious, so comfortable and extremely clean. We could not have hoped for more, it really exceeded our expectations. Excellent Location as well, we could walk to Happo - One in 7 min. A must go and must return !

Excellent Location - Lovely Service

We booked a log cabin for the family and there was a specious kitchen, dining area, bathroom and bedrooms. Really worth it in value. Our only discrepancy is the staff are a little unfriendly and not very helpful.

Really nice family log cabins

The house is very nicely heated and the area is very clean! We had our own kitchen with plenty of stuff that helped us cook a meal for 6. It is also a 5 minutes drive from the Hakuba Happo-One ski resort and the Evergreen ski school. 

What really sets this place apart is the friendly hosts. They were really helpful in their recommendations and if they were available, they would give us a ride to ski resort or rentals. 

Thank you so much for making our first ski experience such a pleasant one! 

Warm clean house with great service!

The manager Toshi and his wife Mayumi were fantastic. Their customer service, friendliness and assistance made our week. We had a group of 8 and they were available to drive us all around the valley in their mini van and then came to pick us up whenever we called. The accommodation is traditional Japanese in our cottages but the beds were fine. The heating was easy to control (floor and air). The site is located within easy walking distance to bars and restaurants if you want to walk, and you can see and hear the ski slopes from. Awesome value, and great customer service. Will definitely return and recommend this as a great value venue for your Hakuba holiday. Excuse the messes in the photos......it was an all guy trip!

Minor minor comment....but taking off shoes before entering the cottages was a bit uncomfortable with no seat at the front door. Particularly ski boots - but we managed to survive!!! And there are steps. Don't let this put you off a great holiday here.

Excellent Hakuba value

10 of us stayed in a Japanese style cottage while skiing. The cottages are in the middle of a lovely park in a tree-filled region of Hakuba - there was plenty of room for the kids to race around the garden in the snow and burn off energy. And despite feeling like you're in the middle of the countryside,  it was only a short walk to some great pubs and restaurants. The only downside is that although on a map it looks like you're right next to the ski lifts, you can't walk there because of big cliff - but our hosts drove us where-ever we wanted to go each day.
The cottage itself was nicer than the photos showed, very comfy, with 2.5 bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and warm. I would stay again.
