Our family of four (2 adults, 2 children aged 7 and 5) stayed with Yoko over Christmas 2015 and had a fantastic time! Yoko is the most wonderful host. We didn't want to stay in a small hotel room and our friends had mentioned Yoko's house. After eating out many nights in Tokyo, it was great to be able to cook in the kitchen and sit in the large dining room to eat and socialise with other guests. Yoko even took us to the local supermarket and helped us work out what item was what! Her local knowledge was so helpful when it came to eating out, lift tickets, ski hire etc. She went out of her way to keep us entertained whilst we were there. And even researched and booked our Christmas dinner at a French restaurant, which was fantastic. 

It's in a great location, walking distance to Happo One lifts and eating places. They also have free Wifi. It's certainly good value for money. 

We stayed for 8 nights and had two traditional Japanese rooms, which were large in size.  The bathrooms are shared, which I was a little worried about when I booked, but it was fine. And they have a washing machine for guests to use.   

See you again Yoko, we'll be back!

Memorable stay

This place was recommended to us by and friend. Yoko was a bit slow to get back to us but I am so glad I waited!! We had the most spectacular time. Yoko is the best. She is the nicest, most lovely and gracious hostess. She'll always stop and have a chat (and a laugh) with you even though she is so busy. She'll even drop you at the supermarket if your staying a few nights and don't want to eat out too much. 
I can't express how brilliant this place is. It's got a great family feel to it. It's a beautiful walk down to Happo Ono (the closest gondola) and other shops and restaurants. Yoko will tell you where to go! It's also a short shuttle bus trip away from heaps of other slopes. There's also a couple of onsens at nearby hotels which is great after a day on the slopes. 
It was an excellent place to spend our honeymoon and my birthday (for which Yoko organised a little cake with some candles!!) 

We stayed the private Japanese style room but the place also has dorms. Yoko's even got a huge ski room to dump your stuff as well as a heated room to dry your gear.

Even though Jan 2016 was one of Japan's worst winters in terms of snow fall I will DEFINITELY be back!!

The best stay ever!!!!

Yoko goes far above the call of duty!  She is warm and friendly and helpful.  She tells you all the neat things to do in the area, and how to do them.  They are in a wooded area, really near the ski area.  I did the walk up to the lake that she recommended, and loved it.  I needed more time, because it was so nice that.  I enjoyed having the cooking equipment there, and she also will take you to the grocery store, so you have something to cook.

Friendly, warm and helpful!

Our 3 nights stay was really extraordinarily good! 
The location is a bit far from the 'center'  but very close to the lift. Our host was so friendly and helpful. She picked us up from the station and later offered us a ride whenever we needed it! She gave us insider information about the region and cared about, that we will have a good time. 
The accommodation had everything we needed and more (even a private bath / Onsen ) and everything was in a clean and good condition. 

We definitely recommend it, don't search any further! 

Extraordinary! 

Whist we were in Hakuba-mura again staying with friends this February, we booked through Maison de Sasagawa for the babysitting of our two children through the Maison's other business, Hakuba Mommy Babysitting. This was the second time we have done this. My children are 1 & 3yo boys and were in the care of Manami for a week while we skied or went out to dinner. 

I cannot tell you how highly I respect the skill-set on offer and how much Manami and Yoko cared for our children. We never had to worry because we knew our children were in the best of care and we could actually allow ourselves to have a holiday also.

Manami and Yoko worked with us daily for the times it would suit us for them to have our children as we were travelling with a group of people (*who did not have children) and so our plans did change slightly each day. Nothing was too much trouble and our children were extremely happy and had a fun introduction to the snow, a local festival and play time with local children within the Sasagawa family. Manami came to us and was also happy to take the children to the Sasagawa home to vary the children's day.

We had a number of payment options available to us which was very convenient. This is a very professional business with all invoicing up to date daily.

This establishment is extremely well-respectied within the community and I would suspect that booking ahead early as I did would be prudent to ensure your children were able to be cared for by Hakuba Mommy Babysitting. (via Maison de Sasagawa.)

When we return to Hakuba again, I would not hesitate to book my children in again because I'm sure our children are having as much fun as we are, if not more.
