This was a lovely traditional hotel, with Japanese rooms and futons. We wore Yakata to dinner and breakfast, and the futons were extremely comfortable! 

It was friendly service, and the dinner and breakfast were amazing and very filling!! 

It felt like a very authentic and comfortable Japanese experience on a wonderful island, would highly recommend!

Wonderful traditional Japanese experience on a romantic island

Wonderful traditional Japanese inn with tasteful modernisations. The staff is incredibly nice, friendly and helpful. The food is beautiful and extremely tasty (please, take the Japanese breakfast!). Great value for money and an awesome stay!

Wonderful traditional Japanese inn

The staff is really friendly and helpful.
The diner is served at either 6, 6.30 or 7pm and we arrived at 8 but they managed to serve us normally.
Speaking about the diner, it's HUGE. We had 11 dishes, incuding fish and meat. A bit too much for us, but at least you try so many traditional meals.
The breakfast (either japanese or continental) is in the same way: consequent! 

Rooms are... traditional :) with a tatami and futons to sleep on.
Bathrooms are shared but there is a bathroom sink and toilet in the room.

Perfect to try Japanese traditional Ryokan

A good 15 to 20 min walk from the ferry, and lovely rooms (no pick-up/drop off service).  However the food (both evening and morning) was pretty average - We had some superb meals at other Ryoken on our travels and considering the $$ we spent here it was disappointing.

A bit of a trek to get to, average food, rooms very nice (relatively expensive).  Small hotel

The staff is very friendly and could speak English well. We didn't book dinner, so they showed us a few options of restaurants around the area, with a map and the time they closed, some restaurants open until 8pm - 11pm. The room is very nice, the futton and pillows were very comfortable. There is a toilet inside the room, for the bath (ofuro) is outside, although you can lock the door while using so it's very private, and it's a great way to relax after a day exploring the area. Before booking this place I checked the reviews and was curious about their meals, as everyone was positive about it. And indeed, we had the breakfast and it was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. They have the option of a continental breakfast if you don't want Japanse style, I had Japanese and my partner had continental, and they were both delicious. It's a bit further from the ferry terminal and the otorii, so if you have big luggage if might be hard to get there. We only stayed for one night and only had a backpack, so it was nice to explore the island during the day and check in to relax afterwards. Check-in starts at 4pm. It's a great idea to spend one night on the island, as we could see the torii gate illuminated at night. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this place if you want a traditional and nice Japanese experience.

Great experience, amazing ryokan

The check in went smoothly and the staff was always attentive and kind to us, they provide us with guides in our language (because it's hard to find things in spanish in Japan) on japanese behavior, customs and traditions. The food was marvelous and, the fact that it is a little hotel, makes it very special and peaceful to sleep at night. Nothing better, after spending a great day at the island, than relax in the ofuro (bath) that even has it's own history. The futons are very cozy and the amenities in the room are more than enough. Perfect for when you don't want to go all the way back to Hiroshima.

Just like Heaven

We stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the location (quieter part of the island and still very close to the main sights).

We had a relaxing bath the evening that we arrived and all the aches from the day of travel just melted away (a must do)

And then there's the food - the dinner is a never ending series of courses, each more delicious than the last. And then when we came down for breakfast, it was a true feast (we tried both the Western and the Japanese breakfasts - preferred Western but both were delicious).

Convenient modern Ryokan with amazing food

This place is run by a family for over 50 years (so the owners told me). It is a very small but extremely well-maintained ryokan. The room was big (and way bigger than many 3-4 stars hotel in Japan). Although the baths are shared, they are quite private (as you can have it for yourself) and contain Ofuro (Japanese soaking tubs). I also recommend having a dinner there, it was rather cheap compared to other eating places and rather authentic experience (and five-course meal) - I tried many new things, which I would not have found on my own.
