We arrived in Hiroshima by train and this hotel is super close to the train station so it was super easy to get to and from here with literally a 5 minute walk. It looks like the area has been redeveloped a bit so there's a bunch of good restaurants around the hotel. There is also a tram stop right around the corner so even though it's location is a bit far from all the sightseeing in the city you can get there easily by just hopping on one of the cool streetcars. 
The room itself is on the small side but the bed was super comfy. Shared bathrooms and toilets were clean most of the time and pretty spacious too. 
The downstairs common room and kitchen is great, there's so many kitchen appliances and utensils to use which was great. There's a bunch of manga books and boardgames too for some entertainment. 
The room could do with a few hooks to hang up stuff on the wall. Since the room is really small and there's no space for anything other than the bed and the tiny table with a stool it'd be a great solution to add some sort of storage for things like coats and bags etc. Unfortunately the cafe was closed when we were there so haven't been able to try this. 

Great stay in Hiroshima close to train station. 

Spent one night here in the spring. Was a perfectly good hostel only steps from the train station. The beds were reasonably comfortable, with a privacy curtain. The staff spoke English well. Was about a 20 minute walk to the attractions in the centre of the city. A very good option if you are backpacking and on a budget.

Perfectly Good Hostel

We moved to this hostel after an awful stay for the same price on the other side of town. 

I haven’t got a bad word to say about akicafe apart from that the coffee shop downstairs closes on Tuesday and Wednesday (the two days we stayed!) we eventually got to sample the coffee on the day of check out and it was the best coffee I have had in Japan. 

The dorms are so well designed in a capsule format with lights, plugs, a fan and lockers all built into your own bunk. It’s so private and you can’t hear anyone else once your in with the curtain shut. The toilet and shower facilities are spotless with all toiletries provided. 

The station is so close it makes a great base for day trips. All in all a fabulous hostel I would stay here again. 

A luxurious hostel for a budget price

Was here for 4 nights and enjoyed it a lot: 3 walking minutes from the train station, very celan, very helpful and kind staff, small nice cafe with good food in the same building, beds in the dormitory very sturdy so you don't feel if your neighbor is moving in the bed, with a curtain for every bed you can make your bed dark, it's quiet - slept soo well here.

Great Location and very friendly and helpful staff

So I initially thought the room for the female dorm is WITHIN the hostel. Instead. I was put in this room on the second floor next to the hostel. I believe there is also a mixed dorm and a room for the staff on the same floor. I will always have to pass this storage room, climb down the stairs and walk outside before I was able to access to my room/the hostel itself. Please at least turn the storage room to a decent room. The staffs only mentioned that they were fully booked (therefore I was put into that room) until I asked. It gets noisy at night too because it’s located beside the Main Street. Not as clean as other hostels I’ve been in japan too.

This is a great, comfortable guesthouse only a few minutes' walk from the main Hiroshima station. Location is excellent for accessing the main tourist/shopping areas of the city as well the getting to the station for getting in/out of the city and also for Miyajima. 

Beds are in two shared dorms, one mixed and one females only, with comfortable bunk beds including curtains and lamps for privacy. The lounge area is a great social space where people can chill and use the fast wi-fi. There's also washer/dryers for a very reasonable price and a small kitchenette if you prefer to cook your own meals. 

The staff are all extremely friendly, happy to offer recommendations and advice for exploring the city.

Comfy beds, good social area, helpful staff

The place is pretty average. The staff speaks English and the facilities are all right. There is a kitchen and common room. The dorm room gets a bit stuffy since there are no windows and the place is kind of narrow! But if you plan on being out all day, like I was, it isn't the biggest problem. 

Average hostel

Good hostel for solo travellers - literally 5 minutes walk from Hiroshima Train Station & next to shopping centres. 

It's okay place to crash for the night, I got there @ 9pm, checked out @ 7am with my luggage left at the corner & my important stuff in a locker & back @ 9pm for my shinkansen to Kobe. I was a little worried my bags were in a public/unsecured place & staff were not yet available when I left to note which ones are mine, but luckily nothing happened. I didn't really notice if there's cctv so they know in case someone takes my pink handcarry 4-wheel luggage & backpack.

Booked it night before my stay & good there's still a spot available. It's a small guesthouse (less than 20beds) & the management pictures reflect reality. The double deck wooden beds have small spots you could put your stuff in (e.g. Toiletry bag). Bed & beddings smelled & looked clean & new-ish. 

I liked that they have a manga/bookshelf with some english ones so got to borrow one. This is my 3rd hostel & I learned that it's not meant for light sleepers and common area is important. Theirs is quite good, next to kitchen & on the left are the sinks & toilets.

My limited dealing with staff is good, they are nice & polite & speak adequate english. One minor downside is the bins signage is quite confusing - can't really tell which is which. 

I highly recommended for budget travellers (AUD30-40/night is good). 

Would I stay here or any dorm
style accommodation again? I think I realized on this journey, I'm okay (willing & able) to shell out more money to get a private room so I'm not worrying about the noise I make or the security of my stuff. And I'm not really sure I'll do solo travel in Japan again, but if I decide to give it a go again, Akicafe's good place to stay.
