Stayed 2 nights. Received a lovely warm welcome from our hosts, despite very limited language crossover. Traditional minshuku and rooms, in a beautiful part of town close to the river. We had the larger room at the front of the building. Despite the proximity of the street it was very quiet. Comfortable shared bathroom and toilet, which nonetheless felt quiet and private and werespotlessly clean ( and this room had it's own sink).
In our tatami room we had comfortable futons and the usual buckwheat pillows, a telly, a heater and a kettle. 
Breakfast was amazing - authentic, delicious home cooking
Highly recommended if you want a bit of real Japan


Wonderful, Traditional Minshuku

There are certainly not all the comforts that a hotel can offer but, given the location (the charming Higashi-yama), the cleanliness of the structure, the spacious rooms (although in Japanese style) but above all the kindness of the managers, I feel like recommending this facility.

Interestingly.

The room was one of the largest we had in Japan even though they were always small, it was perfectly equipped and very clean. I certainly recommend anyone who wants to try a ryokan that I reserve here, it is a safe bet. Smoking is not allowed in the rooms, but if in the reception, despite this, it does not smell like tobacco.

The Ryokan is an exceptional one.

We choose this place because it was in the old district. The accommodation is very good and the hosts are very friendly and helpful. It's a great area close to the tourist bus loop. Make sure you go to Kenrokuen Gardens early to enjoy without the crowds.

Good central location

The hostess was super nice - it's a home accommodation and you can see that they really do it with their heart. We could leave our bags in the hotel before check in. The are is superb - one of the oldest areas in Kanazawa, with all beautiful wooden houses and boutiques. The JR free bus stop is close and only 20 minutes on foot to the food market. The breakfast was home made and super good. Only problem was that the hostess didn't hear the doorbell and we had to wait a lot.

Recommend

We spent an excellent three days staying at this Minshuku. The location is excellent, surrounded by little restaurants, in the middle of the historic geisha district and close to bus transport or walking distance to most major attractions. 
The staff were incredibly helpful, and we enjoyed the Japanese breakfasts very much. We plan to return to Kanazawa and this Minshuku will be at the top of our accommodation preferences.

Excellent experience

We only stayed one night in this and Minshuku but it was enough to realize that it is a really cozy place. The owner is a very kind lady who does everything to help you. The house is large, beautiful and clean. The location is very good as it is close to the JR bus stop for the station and for the castle and garden. The room, air conditioned, is Japanese style with futon, yukata and tea set. Our room was also very large. Don't miss this experience in the fantastic Japan.

Delightful Japanese house

Very big room for 3 guests to stay (triple room), very traditional Japanese guesthouse. 
The owner was very friendly and helpful.
Minshuku Ginmatsu is located in the heart of the geisha district in Kanazawa, Free parking although the location is a bit hard to find and drive into even you have GPS.  The street nearby is very narrow, when you are driving to the guesthouse, please be very caution and careful.

Experience Japanese accommodation

This delicious family-run minshuku is located in close proximity to the Geishe district and teahouses in Kanazawa, a locality nestled between the Japanese Alps. The lady who runs the ryokan is very kind: although she does not understand English well, she is very willing to meet any request and need with dedication and cordiality. The room is in pure Japanese style: tatami on the floor, futon to roll before bed, bright wings and a low table (with the set already ready).
