I loved everything about the guest house. Our own lockers and storage were perfect, the living room was so homey it felt like a living room. People were nice and spoke Japanese as well as English. I came to japan looking for a full, immersive experience and this was the perfect place. Fun location next to markets, bars, food, close to Kokura castle and the river walk. 

To me, it’s a better way to experience japan instead of a hostel where everyone only speaks English, and you might forget you’re traveling in another country. 

I loved it, for me it was home.

I stayed here for 1 night in a female dorm.
Pros: You get a private locker to store your personal belongings and the bathroom and showers were clean.

Cons: 
-Wifi was poor and kept dropping out 
-Overall cleanliness was poor. The carpet felt dirty and dusty. The hostel is located in an apartment building and there was other people's stuff everywhere and was very cluttered. 
-The area at night can be a little dangerous, It's in a red light district (a lot of bars, drunk people and clubs around) 
-No luggage storage (if you want to keep your luggage at the hostel prior to checking in and checking out, you just keep it in the communal living-unlocked and unattended).
Would not recommend this hostel unless you are just here for a quick stay and cheap place to sleep.

Only good for a 1 night stay

Comfortable beds, secure, nice shower and bathroom, nice lounge, friendly staff, good kitchen area. 
Although Kokura isn't terribly exciting, I still enjoyed my stay here used it as a layover between Hiroshima and Fukuoka (I saved $40 by not taking a Shinkansen train).

Stereotypical hostel, in a good wah

Stayed here because Fukuoka was too expensive. Kokura is 20 min on the Shinkansen from Hakara station. The hostel is a 10 minute walk from the station, so no need to take the Skytrain. The staff is extremely friendly and had a great time hanging out with them. The female dormitory is clean, but the bed is not very comfortable. There is a free washing machine and a big kitchen. Would come again :) very good value for money! 

You get what you pay for :) 

we stayed here because everything was booked in fukoka, there is nothing to see in this town plus the place is old, ugly and loud, there is a lot of hot action happening at night so people party late, lots of drunkens in this bar street, this plaçe is not worth the money, it is depressing. if you have to stay in this city spend lots of money in a high end hotel so you wong ever have to go out.

dont bother!

Pros:
- Cheap prices
- Clean environment, spacious too
- There's enough privacy within your own bunk bed
- Free locker space available, and locker is big enough
- Staff are helpful and friendly
-Kitchen, washing machine, lounge available, free for use.
- Near to Kokura station

Cons:
- Location is rather unfavorable for women, as it is located around bars. It is probably better to return to dormitory early.
- The guesthouse is located in a building that is shared with other companies too. The guesthouse owns the rooms from 4th floor and upward. Hence, there is only one common stair that everyone in the building shares. It is fine but it doesn't really feel protected and private.. The reception area is very small, similar to the size of a pushcart, and it just does not feel very protected. But it is still fine as a whole. Also, you have to go upstairs for the lounge, and kitchen etc.

I would recommend it to anyone on a budget.
