First time to visit hokkaido and kutchan/niseko on a solo trip and highly recommend this place. Walking distance from the JR station, very clean, organized space, capsules are also longer and more spacious than average. Owner Ryo-san offers free shuttle to niseko and/or station in the morning, also picks up from the station 3pm if you request beforehand. There is also a supermarket nearby that has everything you need for food and essentials. Thank you Ryo-san for a great stay. See you again

Highly recommended place!

I stayed for 2 nights with the goal to climb Mt Yotei, the volcano which overarches the whole region with its beautiful conical shape (photo shows the view of it from the hostel) . Everything about the hostel was perfect - it was clean, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming.

I got the free shuttle service at 6am(!) to the trailhead and in the evening the owner also took me to the local Onsen.

The service was exceptional and way over the top than what you would expect from a backpacking hostel.

Great Base for Outdoor Activities in the Kutchan Area

We stayed for 5 nights for snowboarding in nearby Niseko.  The accomodation exceeded our expectations in every respect.  We stayed in a shared room with shared kitchen facilities.  The owner,Ryo, was extremely helpful and always offering to assist with any of our needs including driving us to the ski fields every day and to the train station on our departure.  Ryo really made our experience oustanding and is an excellent host.

An outstanding experience

This was my third time staying here and it gets better and better each time :) 

This year Ryo invited different friends to the hostel which created a nice and local atmosphere. Ryo is super friendly and helped with different things

Third time is a charm!

I stayed solo for a few nights during the busy new years period in Ryo's place.

The place is clean and well kept. Everything is designed very well. The beds are decent, and convenient shelves, power points and lockers make it comfortable and convenient. Lower bunks have curtains. But be warned - the upper bunks are kinda tall and scary if you're not up for that sort of thing. The toilets and showers are nice and clean, and conveniently laid out - with sinks, urinals, showers and toilets separated and abundant.

The lounge area was a great place to talk to and exchange notes with other guests throughout the day. The kitchen is well stocked, and there are free supplies to take of.

Ryo was awesome in terms of transportation and making the stay convenient. He will pick you up and drop you off at the station when you leave and enter. There is a shuttle to Hirafu every morning at 8 and 9 as well, the 8am beats the crowds and is right next to the ski rental you can drop your shoes off, beating lugging it around (be warned though - you'll need to take a bus back, which is ~400 yen). He also offers onsen tickets for 620 yen, which he will also shuttle you to and from (and the onsen is great!).

The hostel is fairly conveniently located 10mins away from the JR station (if you decide to walk), and a coop supermarket which was convenient and had everything you needed. Be warned - the walk is icey (bring GOOD winter boots - but this advice is for anyone staying in Hokkaido in general!)

On a final protip - bring a towel - or the rental will cost 200 yen (and is a little thin for my liking).

In all, this was a fantastic stay and I am very grateful for the hospitality and the cleanliness of the place.

Love this place, it was my third time back and it felt like home outside of home. 

It is a clean and quiet traditional Japanese house conveniently located about 10min walk from the Kutchan JR station. I have made many friends, met some like-minded individuals and had lots of scrumptious communal dinners throughout my stays. Ryo is the best host you can ask for!! Thank you as always, I will return!

Best stay in Kutchan/ Niseko!

Nice room to stay at Kutchan. you can use the kitchen to cook the foods. you can buy from supermarket just needs 10 mins walk. the host is very friendly. rent a bicycle 500 yen per 24hrs and travel Kutchan freely. good view to see 羊蹄山

A nice little hostel with the beautiful viewof Mount Yotei. The place is very  clean and almost spotless. Location is near Kutchan train station and convenience stores. Owner Ryo San is both kind and helpful. We appreciate all the help and assistance provided.

Superb Accommodation

The best place to stay in niseko/kutchan! Big shared bedrooms that I could stand on my bunk. Great kitchen and lounge space, dry room for ski gear, close to multiple markets and onsen. Amazing view from lounge space. Quiet location. Rio was the best host! Engaged guests experience to make friends with communal meals (great okonomiyaki), took us to a fantastic ramen spot, helped us get all of our rental equipment and drove us to the base of the mountain every morning and instructed us on how to get back. I will only stay here when I come to niseko!

Absolutely amazing experience!

The hostel owner is very nice and professional. Sometimes there's group meals for 500 yen! JR Kutchan train station is a 10 minute walk from the hostel where you can grab a bus straight to Niseko! Thank you Ryo for the shuttles to Hirafu!! :D This hostel is located in the small town Kutchan which is less Westernized, and more charming than Niseko village. The food prices in the area are a lot better. There;s also a supermarket close to JR Kutchan station.
