I was travelling off season so it wasn't many people there, but had some chat with the stuff and they are all very nice and friendly!very clean, great facilities and near the train station. I'd love to be there during high season! 

Great stay! 

Good location not far from the train station, the staff where super nice and helpful and there is a super big common room to chill out in. The beds are a little bit thin but besides that I would highly recommend staying here

Great Hostel

I stayed at J- Hoppers for 3 nights during my visit to Kyoto. They have strategic location, only 10-15 mins walking from Kyoto Train Station. From here you could easily roaming around to the touristy places like Arashiyama, Fushimi Inari and etc. They have bicycles for rent and many information about Kyoto's events. 

The sharing room is very comfortable to eat, talk, meet other guests. Their policy about early check in and late check out time was wonderful. They gave you pincode that you could access to enter the hostel should you arrive during that time.

There is no lift in this hotel, so if you bring heavy and big luggages, you could either to save it on their luggage room or carry with you to your room. Room cleanliness is good. 

Budget Friendly Place in the Heart of Kyoto

A little bit far from kyoto station. No elevator. when you will have to lift your lugage alone to the 5th floor you will understand. And it is near the cross road so it is very noisy. Moreover If you are alone you won't meet anybody. It is a hotel not a youth hostel.

Not so wonderful as It was said in tripadvisor

My sister and I stayed here for five nights in an all-female dormitory style room. The room and the bathrooms were nice and clean, and the beds each had a shelf, a small side area where we could fit our luggage, and curtains we could draw around the beds. Additionally, small locked lockers were provided. This was our first experience staying in a dormitory style room, and we were pleasantly surprised by the amount of privacy the curtains afforded us. There was also a very nice common kitchen with free coffee that we spent a decent amount of time in. A coin operated laundry machine was also available. The staff were all very friendly and helpful - they knew the city well and gave us good travel trips - and all spoke very good English. Two things to note are that towels are not provided for free, but can be rented for a small fee, and that there are no elevators, so if you have a lot of luggage getting it upstairs may be a little painful. In terms of location, it was very convenient, being right near the Oishibashi bus stop as well as a the Kujo train stop on the Karasuma subway line. There were also a decent number of restaurants as well as a convenience store very close by.

Great stay in Kyoto

Nice place but not so close from Kyoto Station. Near the property there is 7 eleven and family mart. Bathroom and toilet so clean. If you bring a large baggage you must think twice to stay here because J Hoppers has a high and steep stairs. Bedroom is so clean and comfort.

Far from station

Two tumbs up for the service of their front office staff. Feels like family. They help us sending our big luggage to the airport, informing bous route very detail, and halal restaurant near the hotel. Its 5th storey building without any evelator inside, but dont worry, their kind-harted staff will help you carry the luggage to your room. Bus stop "oishibashi" is just cross the walk, and kyoto station is 10 minutes walk from the station. Just across the hostel, there is Sato Restaurant they served japanasse and western foods in affordable prices. We had jappanesse dinner set for only 2000 yen for 3 person.
