Surely one of the best accommodations on our trips to Japan, the ryokan is very nice, in a residential area of the city, but easily reachable both by taxi and bus (25-30 minutes) from the train or bus station. Nice onsen, like the room, but what really characterizes this place is the kitchen that can be described as quietly sublime both visually and tastefully.

A little jewel

The taxi driver from the station was spot on when he said the food was amazing! Dinner was 9 courses of lovingly prepared & intricately served traditional Japanese Kaiseki food. Many of the dishes were seafood tuna, bream, tiny calamari & prawn. There was a similar number of beautifully prepared courses for breakfast! The staff prepared our futon bed when we were eating. The ryokan has a lovely onsen in which to relax! Highly recommended!

A brilliant & authentic traditional ryokan

After a good experience in the Onsen of this Ryokan, we had a really good dinner at the restaurant. The dishes were varied: soups, sashimi, tempura, mushrooms of different types prepared in different ways, rice and meat.

Local delicacies

If you want the experience of being in a traditional Japanese place, very traditional food, this is the perfect place!!! Everyone is very friendly and using the Onsen is a must!!! Maybe the only criticism is that absolutely everything is in Japanese so it's a little difficult to understand some things, but with some intuition and a desire to try everything, you'll be fine!!!

What a truly incredible experience of the highest quality and food presentation on par with an aspiring Michelin star restaurant.
A 15min taxi ride from Matsumoto station we were greeted by our English speaking host who showed myself and family around the property, the baths, the indoor koi pond, small shop and finally our room. The room was amazing and decorated the true style of a ryokan, but with mini bar, bathroom and separate toilet.
We booked a private bathing session for the early evening that was fed by the hot springs, and featured a large indoor pool and outdoor tub.
The highlight was the evening meal included in the price. This meal was exquisite and displayed in beautiful porcelain. We also sampled the local wine which was great. Our host spoke good English and was able to explain each of the dishes in detail and how we should approach each of them. We left feeling we had been on a culinary journey.
I could not recommend this place more and a great place to experience after seeing the sights of Matsumoto or just a place to relax.


A True Japanese Experience 

My wife and I visiting from London stayed here for one night on 20/04/17. During our trip to Japan we stayed at another ryokan that cost nearly 3 times the price of this one and had a 3 Michelin Star meal that cost more than double the price of this place including the (upgraded) GU meal my wife and I had, but this place held its own against the stiff competition from the two that I have mentioned here. The welcome, the service, the meals, the whole ambience of the place are really top class. My wife is a vegetarian and the chef prepared apparently the establishment’s first vegetarian menu that literally was mind blowing. Please do not be put off by the fact that this place is not close to the station. An eMail to them will result in a response that will guide you how to get here and getting to this place is very easy. In fact, my wife and I walked easily to town from this ryokan to spend part of the afternoon in town. This place was an experience that my wife and I are never ever going to forget and I can say for sure that I will happily return to Japan to enjoy this place again.

We suggest you to take a bus or taxi from Matsumoto station.

If you take a bus, you need to go to “Castle side exit” after get off the train.
Then you can find the “Ario” shopping mall across the street.
The bus terminal is at the first floor of the “Ario” shopping mall.

The bus [ No.31 for “Utsukushigahara Onsen”] is heading to our hotel.
You need to get off the bus at “Tsujidou” bus stop. It costs 340yen per person.

If you take a taxi, it takes about 15min from station.(Taxi terminal is also at the Castle side exit)
The cost is about 2000Yen.

Best experience one can think of - amazing, amazing place

Beautiful Ryokan in a quiet residential area of Matsumoto. The service is excellent, a real Japanese experience.
The Ryokan is nicely decorated and there are also Koi fish inside! The room is big with Tatami floor.

They have both public and private Onsen, the private is relaxing with external and internal pool.

Had a full Kaiseki Dinner, that was good but not the best I had in Japan.
The Ryokan is a bit far from the train station, about 10 minutes by cab.

Beautiful Ryokan in Matsumoto with excellent service

This pretty ryokan on the outskits of Matsumoto has a lot to offer. Exceedingly friendly personnel, great japanese cuisine and pleasant hot baths. You'll sleep on a futon on the floor and the baths are public (though there is the possibility to reserve a "Family Bath") but rooms have their own toilet and wash basin. The 7 course dinner is beautiful to look at and very good. The only minor inconvenience was that the wifi internet connection was very slow ... at best. But hey, this is a place too sit down, enjoy life and relax!

Relax

We stayed two nights in this Ryokan during our three-week trip to Japan. We were very happy with this accommodation. We were warmly received. We were welcomed by several employees, who took care of our luggage. Meanwhile the manager (boss?) took us to the Ryokan and explained its different characteristics. The room was spacious with toilets and a private bathroom. The Japanese breakfast, cozy, we were served in a room equipped with a Japanese table and chairs. It is a very pleasant place for our Western knees! The English staff speaks what is available if one of us talks a little about it. We are having a dinner with our eyes gased and the Japanese menu is a great introduction to the dishes!
