We just stayed for one night in a tatami room in Hotel Tenbo. There is a nice Japanese-style garden with a red bridge fronting the hotel. It is a nice hotel with many amenities for the comfort and pleasure of guests and good facilities for guests with special needs. The onsen pools and amenities are well equipped and furnished to give guests a wonderful and relaxing experience. Unfortunately, the furniture and fixtures and linens in the our room are very dated and it is very annoying that wifi connection is  so poor that we couldnt get connection throughout our stay.

We went in late October for the Autumn Momiji leaves at the famous Kajika Bashi (Red Bridge in Momiji Leaves) with the flowing gold river. Definitely too early but the staff was happy to give us a ride to/from the location for the evening light up. (That's nice so we could try great osake with dinner and not drive)
I especially liked the Japanese-style garden in the front of the hotel. It was very pretty lit up at night. Good food, pleasant onsen, quiet surroundings, sleeping well leads to a very relaxing stay.

Very Relaxing Place

This is a very local tourist and family orientated hotel. The dinner and breakfast buffets were wonderful, super fresh food served constantly until the end. Love the rock baths and the women’s public bath, the star sky paid onsen is also gorgeous when there is full moon and light snow. The western style room has a comfy bed. It is a quaint old hotel with lots of charms. Easy to get to via bus from Shinjuku!

The hotel and her facilities are a bit old but in good condition. You can enjoy public hot spring or rent a private hot spring. We stayed for two nights and chose different dinner. The hotel served us in different restaurants. Very relaxing.

We stayed for our family trip with 2 kids. They are very kids friendly, large lobby, good bath to hop in many kinds of tubs. 
Amazing breakfast. Breakfast buffet was even better than Shabu Shabu dinner. 

Room is well renovated and clean. Location is off centered but if you have a car it's very short drive to steps to shrine. There are many public parking near the bottom of the steps(forgot what it's called, you know what I mean. It's tourist destination).

Very good value

Had a small 6-(tatami)  mat room with great view, typical ryokan style (they bring the mats out btw 7-8 PM). The hot springs are great (especially outdoors ones, with copper-iron water). Different times for men and women - try to get there early. Excellent breakfast. Comfy yukatas, i wish I'd bought one there.

The hotel is wonderful...Their in house eating place is fabulous. The setting juts into a beautiful forest - its as if you are eating your meals in the forest. Japanese robes are part of the room.  Leave your American clothes in your suitcase and wear the robes everywhere.  Walk to little quaint shops that are lovely.  The hot springs were a new experience of me...a great one.  Learn what the culture wants you to do before getting in.  My son is a frequent traveler, his advice to me was to clean yourself from head to toe and take at least 10 minutes doing it.  Others are watching and will love your company if you are as clean as they are; after all it is about sharing a bath nude.  So very nice.

A dream of a hotel

It is a typically Japanese hotel, you get even typical costumes (kimono). The hotel has several restaurants, from the most traditional to the east-west mix. Highly qualified gastronomy. The apartments are composed of a small hallway - where you leave the shoes and wear the Japanese sneakers - a full bathroom and then the room, where the whole space is occupied by a tatame, where the whole family sleeps together, in individual edredons. Everything very comfortable.
